Those knobs looks fantastic! NOS or refinished?

these are the originals for this rig. I refurbished them. Started with some compound and a buffing wheel. Then some glass/ plastic polish and more buffing. Then topped it off with some white paint applied with a wire, then wiped clean.

What color name and code did you paint your rig?

This is 6h9.... a DuPont spectra master mix. I think it's a tad lighter but i think it looks great. I think it looks like fashion green now. :)

Also got the steering column installed. And re arranged those knobs. Also worked on the Tammy hump. Tons of work on that thing. Lots of metal replacement, its now primed getting ready for more sanding. Cant real get the interior done until that tranny hump is installed.

Thanks - they look brilliant. This is on my list...

I finished all of the final piddly details on Saturday. My buddy came over Sunday with his high-end Snap-On diagnostic toys, we turned her over, and ............no start. Injectors were pulsing but no fuel, everything else was spot on. Apparently the injectors were pretty gummed up. After changing out to a spare set of injectors (with new O-rings) after work yesterday she fired right up and ran smooth as silk, waaaaay smoother than my earlier TBI. I'm heading out of town until Friday, so next Saturday we'll make sure the transmission is dialed in, put a few hundred miles on her and ...... Rubithon here we come!

Nice! Does the Vortec have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the earlier TBI SBC's?

The short answer is yes. But you need to understand the differences between the two-piece case with removable bell housing and the one-piece bell housing, and the getting the correct torque converter. The other issue is telling the transmission what to do, since the 4L60e is 'driven' off the PCM. If you are putting an earlier automatic trans (700R4/4L60) or manual trans behind a LS-series motor you'll consider options to provide the necessary inputs to the automatic transmission, and provide necessary information back to the engine.

Completed the body work and ready to apply the primer. Seats, doors and windshield removed. Doors dismantled and rust treated and repaired. Hardtop sides rust treated and repaired. I believe we are ready for the primer and paint now. Looking forward to putting the 40 back together and getting to drive it again.

"Borrowed" another idea from a MUD member. This past weekend there was so much heat coming from the floor I thought I was going to roast my feet. Today I secured some foil insulation and cut it to fit the floor. I hope it will keep a lot of the heat out.

Then I cut out some custom floor mats from some door mat material I found at Home Depot. I tried to use the 1/2" thick rubber mat from Tractor Supply but it was to stinky. This looks pretty good and is cut to fit my floor and covers some of the wiring that snakes down the inside of the door sill. This stuff isn't that sturdy and should be okay until I can find something a little tougher and thicker.

@David1947 You may also want to "heat shield" the hump-lots of heat emmenates from there..............

Work on the 64 continues. Getting the tub done. Decided to smooth out the spot weld dimples and go for a glass smooth finish. This is going to be my creme dela creme!

Changed the oil using Valvoline VR1 20w-50 and a Mobile1 M1-301. Captured a sample of the old oil to send off to Blackstone Labs for a health check of the engine.
Got the oil report today - with no background on the engine, I'm pleased overall - I'll keep doing these on the FJ40 as it's cheap insurance, imo.

Man, didn't realize that pic was that bad. Sprayed some black on it before I wet sanded to find the lows. All in all not to bad.
