Thanks guys! It's been well used and loved. I'm thinking about clear coating the paint job to preserve its current look. What do you guys think?

The most endearing part of the patina would not survive a clearcoat.

I actually had a chance to work on my 40 last night, cut out a patch of cancer on the passenger rocker area, cutting and bending a piece to weld back in today.

Those look nice, good find.
Does anyone know if the piece on the bottom, between the housing and fender can be replaced? Mine has a huge crack in it which prevents me from tightening down much.

Mine had the same crack on the driver's side.... I've replaced the lights and am about to throw the old away... They're garbage.

If the mount you need is for the passenger side, PM me and I'll mail it to you ... No charge

Power washed the chassis, pulled tranny and transfer, tore down transfer, pulled clutch, ordered parts from @cruiseroutfit, put the new inspection light from @Racer65 in the glove box, and put the steering column cover from Classic Cruisers on. I'll have the engine out tonight, then on to frame and body rot, and on and on. Oh that's right no pics, soooo none of that happened or will happen.

I feel like I won the Cruiser lottery. I have been looking for a center console ashtray for some time, with no luck in finding one at a decent price. I had heard that the ashtray was the same as a Celica GT, but I did not know what year. I was browsing on fleabay and came across one advertised as being for '78-'81 Celica GT. It looked similar to what I needed and was made around the same year, so I bought it. It fits, and I only paid $23 shipped to my door. My Cruiser should have a tan colored one to match my center console, but I have only seen one in that color before. I think the black looks good enough.

Black works... If the recessed section comes out i'd make it black also... otherwise I'd leave it alone.

Took the top off,First time in it's entire existence.

All the rubber gaskets are 90% fine, which is a surprise. Found some nasty rust. though.

You've been spoiled it that is Nasty Rust... :D

For the year, that looks good.

Engines on stand, now I'm thinking about pulling the body so I can turn it upside down.

With the harness repaired and 44 running again... yesterday, I hooked up the tach and insulated the inside of the firewall (where the heater had been) with 110ml thick GTMat sound deadener/insulation.

Both fuel tanks are now serviced by Carter electric fuel pumps and I'm very pleased with their performance... no more gravity flow issues, when climbing hills.

I've accumulated the parts to set up a breaker-controlled, aftermarket-accessory fusebox... battery to breaker to fusebox to accessory... all aftermarket accessories will be powered via this fusebox. I'll start hooking all of this up today and try to finish it before my surgery on Tuesday... if I can't finish, I'll just not power the breaker until I can get back to finish it.

daBoise and I drove 44 about 20 miles at dawn this morning and found out the hard way that, when I removed the heater to make it easier to pull the melted harness, I put it all back together, but never burped the cooling system... so, 44 was getting pretty warm before we got home... I'll burp it as soon as it cools down.

Here's 44, this morning, with lights again.
