New wheels and tires! View attachment 1232792

well they were new for a few miles. Then I found this dry cracked sandy road that had tar like clay hiding just below the crust. Lockers saved my butt!

255/85r16 on 16x7 4" back space (0 offset) wheels.

So far so good!

Pete
Thanks for the input Pete. My wheels and tires are due in this afternon. I decided to re-build the axle and hub assembly as well as a complete disc brake job before hand. Should be rolling soon.

@Dagha Boy I will be documenting the RHD to LHD swap in my build thread. I hope to begin the transition in April.

Got it back from the body shop (new rear sill, rear quarter panels and rear wheel well skins). Installed new rear emblems, metal tech cage, Real Steel bows and frame, Trollhole top and 4+ rear swing outs. Also put my new, homemade radio delete plate

on. I'm very happy... FOR NOW!

Not mine, but for a friend's cruiser. He had a set of steelies off an '85 sandblasted and asked if I'd prime and paint them. He hates to paint and I'm a rattle can mad man so we're both happy. A set of 33-9.50-15 BFG's are going on the rims and then on to his '40. Yes, I said 33-9.50. The tire man said they were old but in excellent condition. They had been garaged since new and he puts few miles on his rig.

I put on 4 of these(which I have had since 2005 according to the sticker)

had a set of 33x10.5's I took off the 60, they are 10+ years old(and about 10K on them).....but whatever....

Bear approves

those rreplaced the 33x9.5's I had on late model 40 wheels

the 33x10.5's MT's are much easier to turn with manual steering, ride better and........yeah they look better to. I am really digging the black wheel with hub caps, but man I had to bend the clips on the wheels to get the caps to fit. I had planed on running early Arcorn caps but honestly.......they didn't look at that hot.

had way to much fun with the guys at the local hole in the wall used tire shop.......1st guy(shop hanger) that came up to me was looking for parts for his 2F Toyota Forklift.

total spent, $40 ;)

@Landpimp - I am so absurdly jealous of anyone who owns an FJ45 it's sinful. Awesome truck. Perfect Patina.

A nice, sunny day caused me to bail outta work early, picked my boys after school and headed up in the hills on some nearby logging roads.

First time off the pavement with my new OME springs. I give them . They handled the washboard and rocks great. Big improvement over saggy, old stock springs.

$.50 per piece oem manufacturer sure beats the $2/per price from Toyota !

Pulled the front seats so I could remove the transmission hump so I could more easily remove the trans/TC so I could replace the rear main engine seal. Also need to need to replace the seal on the rear output shaft of the TC. Might as well rebuild the parking brake, replace some leaking transmission gaskets, install a trans/TC oil return line, as well as strip and paint the front pan with chassis saver. But wait, that gas tank is in the way! Good thing I FILLED IT UP before parking for the winter. Oh, and since the seats are out I'll strip, prime and paint all the seat hardware as well. And to think, I was wondering what I would do while I waited for back ordered front rotors to complete the front knuckle and steering linkage rebuild I did two or three weeks ago. Please kill me...

BTW, I can't thank everyone on Mud enough for all the valuable (as well as inspiring and entertaining) information you provide to a first time Land Cruiser owner like myself!
