All of the body work complete it was time to spray a little paint.

Finally got my new quadrajet from Sean Murphy Inductions dialed in. Had to fight a couple vacuum leaks and idle mixture issues but the truck now idles beautifully at 650RPM. The best I could get out of my old Buick Qjet was about 800RPM, which had a tendency to wander up to 1000 after a few miles.

Now I've got good throttle response, and no real stumbles. Most importantly, it starts without having to crank it for 2 minutes.

Ye olde 283 seems to like about 14 degrees advance timing, which gives me about 38 degrees at throttle.

Now it's just a matter of saving my pennies in order to pull the whole engine, and either replace or reseal it, then drop it back in with new mounts in the proper location.

Chomping at the bit to get started!

I'm really pleased with the color. Only used about 2/3 of a quart of paint to lay down 4 coats on the roof and bezel.

Separated the tub fro the chassis yesterday. When I removed the fuel tank I found a small ammo dump underneath. An assortment of live ammunition wedged between the floor and the fuel tank is not what you want.

Fixed all oil leaks replaced all missing grommets. And installed some cheap aftermarket mirrors. And then drove it 4000KM. To Pismo Beach California

Outdoor carpet headliner install. Pretty darn simple and total cost less than $50. Interested to see how it holds up.

Hopefully the humidity will go down so I can start spraying paint this weekend.

Where did you guys pick up the carpet? My local Home Depot and Lowes doesn't have anything in a 6x8 for cheap indoor/outdoor carpet.

I got mine at Home Base years ago, but they are no longer in existance. Lowes and Home Depot sell it off a 6 ft. wide roll. At least in my neck of the woods.
