oh, and we got the LX through emissions and renewed the registration on Saturday

Swapped out my barely working passenger seat motor and transmission assy with a good used one I had been holding onto just for when this happened √

Got it up to 117, going up the hill south of Moab overtaking a V6 mustang with new dealer temp plates that had passed me on the downhill previous. lol.

How did you get passed the gov'nr? I hit 91/92 and the truck says "nope" even though I'm accelerating.

Governor works by cutting fuel and ignition..... If you have full control of fuel and timing using a stand alone ECU. How can the stock computer cut it? ;)

The standalone ECU doesn't care how fast you go as long as you don't go past your set redline.

Added a side vent from LC 55.

Showed the old girl some love this weekend!

First the side vent with help of NLXTACY, then some maintenance stuff:

Topped off oil
Greased the u joints and drive shafts
Drain and filled the tyranny fluid twice. The penzoil tranny fluid I flushed the most likely factory fluid with is still nice and clear but it's time for some full synthetic.

The old girl is starting to live the high life again, especially I've been using premium gas lately with highly advanced timing. :)

Took my son fishing Saturday and Sunday. Did a little light wheeling (logging type roads). Hauled my daughter around since she can't drive. Then took 3 of 4 dogs for a little joy ride. Nice weekend with my family.

Installed the 2" lift which gave me a total of 3" of lift since I was sagging badly.

Started the u joint replacement but got stuck at pressing in the second set of caps so let it go until today or tomorrow.

Received the last piece of hardware for the total exhaust replacement. 500 bucks for all exhaust pieces delivered to my door.

Is this in all later 80s / LXs? I've been up to about 90 but never noticed at stop, maybe I was just under it??

Filled the tank with premium and had another go at the timing advance. I *think* its at about 8 degrees but hard to say exactly. Its definitely more than stock. Initial results are better throttle response, smoother idle, and slightly more "pep". I know I won't save any money running premium vs regular but if I can gain 5%, thats 5% more than I had and this thing needs all it can get. I'll report back once I've run a few tanks through it.

And while we were on the way to buy some diff fluid, we went to a route that we don't normally drive through, we saw an 80 on a ranch that always owned Fords and Chevy trucks, only to find out he was selling it for $1500 with 180k mi on it. It had a cracked cylinder (according to PO), he said he flushed the coolant system 3years ago and he had been battling overheating since and actually overheated to red arc once. Motor seized since then and never ran.

So we paid $1k for it with a spare motor and tranny he bought on planning to swap but got busy fixing his Ford instead... The spare motor and tranny came from a truck that was rear ended by a semi and had 140k mi. All of these were sitting on his front yard for 2 years and if we didn't take this route we would've never seen it.
