What happened? That second paint job failed already?

Oh my, how many squirt jobs has that thing had? :hillbilly:

The hood has been painted 3 times which is why it was starting to crack. The roof has been painted twice. :hillbilly:

My new body guy stripped the hood and he said it's now 10 pounds lighter......

So,,, this is now a weight reduction program?:hillbilly:

It was either the truck or me......:rimshot:

Could you please post fuel mileage results post paint removal? Thanks.

It should go up dramatically. I'm hoping to crack double digits......

Wait, did you remove the entire body?!?! Otherwise, I don't know how you are getting double digits...

:smokin:

We chopped up a buddies HDJ81 this weekend into pcs with my plasma. Most of it was scrapped other than the engine/trans/tcase. It took us a lot longer than expected. When you have to completely disassemble an entire vehicle, you really can appreciate the engineering that went into it. Another buddy took time lapse pics and is supposed to stitch them together for a short video.

I moved my tire from off the floor on the driver side to standing up on the passenger side. Since me and gas tank are always on the driver side, I was trying to shift a little weight over to the passenger side. I used two tire chocks and two crossed straps, anchoring off of the third seat bracket and floor post. 2014-11-04 10.16.16.webp 2014-11-04 10.16.29.webp 2014-11-04 10.28.59.webp

It's been a few weeks, but here is the video from Georgia trip. 3 Cruisers crossing the river.

I wanna know how this holds up!

I'll keep you updated. I don't wheel it real hard, and I did something like this before, without the tire chocks, and it held up well. I'm expecting even better results with the chocks.

Where was this?

It was Earls Ford Rd, west of Clayton. We were crossing to an island in the middle of the Chattooga River. This is from the trip that spawned Crazie Eights.

Yeah, my math skills are lacking. Public schools....

I noticed the temp gauge was creeping toward the red during the 3 mile trek of logging roads to get to out hunting ground. 1.5 miles of that is a constant incline. I replaced the t-stat, hoses, water pump and flushed radiator as part of base line, so I felt pretty confident on replacing the fan clutch (which I should have done already!) I considered draining and replacing the oil in the original but I was short on time so I swapped in a new Aisin replacement. Problem solved.

The wife had 200lbs of chicken to can and/or vacuum seal, so I agreed to take the kids for a hike to get all of us out of her hair for the day sat. First snow of the season meant it was an "indoor" hike!

Crossed my fingers, then Towed a big dump trailer 500 miles round trip, with a stock 91 3fe... Survived the mission, SLOWLY. Actually got better gas mileage with the trailer on? normal is around 210 and I got 265.
Moral of the story, it can tow slowly.. And I need an engine swap.
