Saturday, the Lexus received a new radiator, water pump and thermostat. And while the battery was out, I addressed the weeping power steering hoses too, and since the coolant was out I replaced the PHH by bypassing it around the brake booster.

So... I have very bad things I wish upon whoever is responsible for the design of the radiator!! It obviously wasn't designed to be serviced easily, who puts hidden bolts behind the condenser? WTF Mr. T!!!!
And then we get to the PHH....I have a whole new level of respect for you guys that have tackled that on the side of the road! Yuk!!

But, its done, now to monitor coolant loss and see what the next step is going to be! yay.............

finally did hells gate in moab, i've wanted to do it since i first saw it on youtube about 5 years ago when i drove a buick century and had never been 4-wheeling

had a blast!

I have watched a lot of those vids, and I must say you made me less nervous watching from the comfort of my computer.

I have very little experience 4 wheeling, but it looks like you did a great job!

Hell's Gate is all about the line and spotter. A stock truck can run it. But if you deviate from the correct line it can go sideways in a hurry. Especially with a short wheelbase vehicle. Typed poorly from my iPhone using IH8MUD

Pimped my ride... :grinpimp:

thanks! yeah i really wanted to run it but didn't have a spotter. was just about to turn around when these guys showed up and decided, what the heck, i'll go for it. i've watched the line cruiserphill takes (in the vid where he does it in about 30 seconds) and walked the trail with the spotter first and told him what i was thinking. it was not nearly as nerve racking as i thought it would be. man, i love moab!

great job on that run man, you made it look too easy. I have also been watching videos of hells gate for years but never attempted it. I am planning a trip to moab in May, if you want to make the short drive down from provo, I'd love to have someone to wheel with. Last year I was there solo and it prevented me from doing some of the trails I really wanted to do.

i hear ya, it's way better to have someone with you. my wife and i (she's the one sliding all over hells gate in that video) are actually moving back to CA beginning of May. if you want to do it sometime in April then i'd go with in a heartbeat :)

thanks!

Oh man, too bad on the timing! I will be in finals at the end of April, and early May we are visiting family in SLC. Good luck with the move!

Went for a quick day and a half camp to get away from work. Got a couple good hikes in.

Hells Gate at Moab looks nice, but for the people on the East Coast, that's hard to get to.

What is the best place on the east coast that offers something extreme, challenging, that isn't a private track, etc.?

Relatively close to you would be Coal Creek / Windrock Park in Oliver Springs, TN
