OK. Got dirty today. What a PITA. Tank is off. Filler hose was hard as steel. Also pulled of the driveshaft to be able to drop the tank. Ordered all new rubber from UAE.

Worst part, had to disassemble part of the build in the back, to access the hoses on top of the tank. Best part, I’ll clean it after 5 years and 95K miles of ‘overlanding’.

Need to pull the pickup fuel cap and extend the pickup line and the float. The tank is a bit deeper than stock.

By the way, that FT build in the background is going into our troopy build.

I had previously installed 30mm spring spacers all around, and have been perfectly happy with that setup… Until I got Dobinsons drawers. They are a little heavy and sagged the rear too much. So I found a set of 2861/2862 springs to correct for the extra weight coming along. I decided to keep the 30mm spacers on top of the OME stock height springs. Will get better “after” pictures in the morning. And the Ironman bumper/winch combo I just bought in Boise will anchor the front down a little.

Hey Wes, it took about 3 weeks. I was initially told 3/4 days and that the block was in Ontario, but it turned out to be in transit.
Pulling the engine in the truck tomorrow....

while you have that off the vehicle find a large hex nut and weld it to the centre of the rod where the bare metal marks from the pipe clamp are.
That way makes adjusting it later on for centering the steering wheel so much easier

So, adding the LRA 37 gal main tank, I tried to follow their instructions. Since the tank is deeper, the pickup pipe and the fuel level sender have to drop down about 2.5”. They provide a kit, that you have to butcher the hardware and solder extensions. I figured a much better solution to machine a bracket that will place the sender lower. Once the pickup pipe (12 mm) for diesel is TIG welded, I can start putting this baby together.

This is from the LRA installation manual. It’s for a gas engine so pump is on the bottom.

So this is how the lights were mounted from the PO and I hated itView attachment 3734482i was thinking of just cutting the old hoop off and making a new one that the lights could mount under the hoop but I was out there today messing around with lay out and wanted to know what people think? Either 1,2,3 or chop it off?

If it were me, I'd put the LP6's out wide like you have in the 2nd pic, and move the LP4's to the center with mounting tabs on the top of the horizontal tube above the fairlead. Those lights are relatively thin so it wouldn't protect them as much as having them behind the hoop but would still work well.

Something like this. That way the center of the grill stays more open for better airflow and nothing is blocking your high beams or your factory blinkers.

The guys camped near me got a 24” Rainbow out of the same hole. Good hole!
