For what reasons would you want to go 3" lift on body?

After my experience with a 2.5" body lift I would totally do it again if I lived in somewhere like Texas or Florida and I didn't wheel the rig very much. I would run a 3" body lift and a 2" suspension lift. Than I would get 37's and keep the stock gears. Than the rig would cruise at 80 mph so nice down the nice flat highways.......

That is a pretty big IF lol

It's amazing what a diesel will do, in a steady state and an efficient rpm, right?

Ah, didn’t realize you had a diesel. 👍

Cheers

OME BP-51 time. Long arse drive from LA, but worth the drive to see the legendary shop in person.

Killing some time while in SLC, what better way than to visit the museum? Pleasure meeting @cruiserdan! Thanks for the chit chat.

They def built the 80 to also attract those who wanted a more “luxurious” ride while retaining its world class 4x4 capabilities. Me.

Nice to see 80s in such pristine condition, untouched.

Ironically, I was most in awe of the Hiiux. Arctic Truck edition.

I removed the winch, took out the grill, and everything else from there went smooth.
Two hours work, very easy. Just need to go to my AC guy to fill the gas back.

Got tired of looking at the dash cracks...

Brand is Covercraft. Well made product, definitely doesn't come with enough 3m Velcro so keep that in mind, but for $70 it is a welcome addition. The gray color matches very well with the blueish gray 80 interior.

I give the fitment a 3.5/5, could be better could be a lot worse

Before I left, I also bought new rear adjustable upper control arms and transfer case rebuild. . So still have to do those things. But yes, I need to do that and stop blindly chasing this issue.
I was thinking it might be the bearing in the nose of the transfer case. When we lift our trucks, we change the angle which the bearing has been operating. That change can result in bearing failure if the bearing is well-worn.

Took it on my first road trip.

Got off road to take a trail over the mountains.

The at oil light came on. Before I could stop it was off. It never came back on. It spooked me enough we drove back to pavement

I'll be adding a trans temp gauge. Now.

Yes! @Dusten. Stuff them tires. That sucks about the AT light. Hopefully it's something simple.

It was weird. It turned off so fast.

From what I've read 302 is the trigger.
But 249 is where it turns back off. There is no way it dropped temp that fast.

It has a cooler but I'm already replacing it when my bumper gets here. I'll add a gauge. I'll change the fluid when I get back home.

It's shifting fine and never acted up.

I’ve got the same thing going on with mine. I’m right at 23.8” up front with my second hand 146VT springs, corrected caster with Landtank‘s 2.5” plates. I still have my stock DS up front, haven’t gone DC yet. I tore up my rear shaft at Roundup a couple weeks back so I’ve been rolling a couple of weeks with it removed waiting for a replacement to arrive. The feathered decel rattle is much less pronounced but still present. I’ve got adjustable rear control arms ready for the arrival of the rear DS so I can get my rear pinion dialed in. Talked to Georg about a gear reduced TC at Roundup so that may be in the cards. I’m pretty sure my truck has a bunch of miles on it with a locked VC before I got it which may also be a contributing factor.
