Some maintenance after my death valley trip. Few things came loose after a couple of weeks of corrugated roads - loctite has resolved those things :)

Swapped out the air filter for a cleaned one (I have 3 washables). Cleaned out the tuna can and found some lunch snacks :)

Then test fitted a proto for the winch cap that fell off somewhere. Needs a few small tweaks to the design. Will be fastened with a stainless steel wire.

Then test fit a new dual anderson powerpole holder to use another of the useless 'coin holders'. Need a couple of tweaks to the anderson section to provide a little more support in the rear. Otherwise it snaps in like a factory piece. Will of course be printed in grey.

The hole you see (goes all the way through is to push in the roll pins that lock the powerpoles in place.

I'll make the STL files available once I've tweaked them to happiness.

cheers,
george.

That Anderson holder looks sweet. Those factory air cleaners are all washable, right?

I’ve got the same thing going on with mine. I’m right at 23.8” up front with my second hand 146VT springs, corrected caster with Landtank‘s 2.5” plates. I still have my stock DS up front, haven’t gone DC yet. I tore up my rear shaft at Roundup a couple weeks back so I’ve been rolling a couple of weeks with it removed waiting for a replacement to arrive. The feathered decel rattle is much less pronounced but still present. I’ve got adjustable rear control arms ready for the arrival of the rear DS so I can get my rear pinion dialed in. Talked to Georg about a gear reduced TC at Roundup so that may be in the cards. I’m pretty sure my truck has a bunch of miles on it with a locked VC before I got it which may also be a contributing factor.
Did your vibration show up after the lift?

I don’t feel a vibe as much as hear a metallic rattle sound (buzz) on slight decel above about 50 mph. I can feel it through the TC shift lever. I’d say it’s lift related but don’t know for sure as the truck was almost un-driveable when it showed up. I wish I’d measured pinion angles before installing a suspension.

Drove it up the hill for a hike.

First went to Home Depot for new light switches but got the wrong ones. Returned the ones from Home Depot and went to Lowes for the right ones...

Also, put gas in my 80 this weekend.

And the best part of this week. I got my QPM from Wits End, only been waiting a year. But I am fully aware of the issues @NLXTACY has been dealing with. If anyone is worried about dealing with him, do not hesitate he has been always for coming as far as filling orders and delays out of his control be it personal or professional

Got the bushing out with some effort and new one in, timing cover on, oil cooler on, rear main seal and front seal In. Missing a couple gaskets so should be in this week for the enact weekend get the head on and whatever else I can tackle.

I’d say check/change tc oil.
Then pull the front shaft and test drive. Yours could be as simple as worn u joints.

finally got some free time and good weather to install the radio parts i've had for a few months. cross posted here from the Comms forum for 80 visibility.

Diamond K400 SMA NMO hatch mount with Comet SSB-5 NMO antenna. also have the stubby SSB-1 on standby. i left the thin metal strip between the grub screws and hatch....not sure if that is right or not? reception seems OK but don't have a SWR meter or antenna analyzer.

zip ties, then tucked into the weather strip

loosened the latch to tuck the wires tighter. didn't need to trim anything there as the wire is thin enough to slip between the light and inner housing. wires pass through the same grommet as the tail light wires.

ran the antenna wire along the drivers side, exiting at the B pillar seatbelt lower mount, under the drivers seat, under the center console, and popping out on the passenger side tunnel. the stock K400 antenna wire ran out of length at the seatbelt, so the extension WAS necessary. 6' would have worked fine in hindsight but 9' gives me flexibility to mount a future mobile radio anywhere i want (even though its probably going in the @Delta VS center console). currently have a Baofeng HT, so added a 90* adapter and a Female-Female adapter. radio mount came from @Outsane with a short Ram arm and Ram ball screwed into an existing hole on the @Delta VS shift console. The radio mount is VERY tight on the Baofeng for some reason...almost like my battery is thicker than designed for, even though its the stock battery. No matter, with the external antenna and speaker/mic, i don't need to constantly remove the radio.

@jht3 It's snug so you can mob down washboards without it coming out.

It will also wear in a little an slightly loosen up, insert and remove a few times should help.

If you want looser I can send a custom one for you.

I saw this while headed north from Las Vegas.

The infamous..

We were in the wife's car (which was regretted 1 hour into the trip).
