I understand that the shackles' bolts are pointing down to allow the rear door to be opened fully, but vibrations could open those bolts.
I would suggest using shackles that are secured with safety pins instead of bolts.

They haven't opened up in 5 yrs so it's not really an issue. I tighten the bolts up pretty good to keep them secure.

A shackle should be loosened 1/8th if a turn to prevent seizing

That's a good feeling, pick up day.

What's your caster at?

I installed some ironman control arm drop brackets so castor is back within factory spec. I know I lost a little clearance and many with think that was a poor choice. I'm going to wheel it, but I have no plans to beat this thing on the rocks. If I get hung up enough it bothers me I'll eventually go with some delta control arms. For now I'd rather use the money for other mods.

That's for when you're actually using it during recovery. When it's not being used and just sitting there, it's just a bolt. You guys are overthinking this.

What hardware did you install in your control arms? ;)

We always loosened them when stores too.

But as I said, I wouldn't have it just hanging there, begging to be stolen.

I like to keep all my heim bolts loosened 1/8th of a turn. Makes maintenance a whole lot easier.

My bumper is due to be welded soon.

Now it's a race to see what gets here first. The exhaust or bumper.

Good catch!!!! I guess that is the rattle snake gultch and kanab creek areas.

I think so, I'd have to look up where the NPS marks the boundary, because it could include all the way to the Bill Hall Trailhead, but that would be strange.

Recently got back from a deployment, so the last few weekends other MUD members and I have been putting my engine back together. . With a few upgrades.

Have to give a big thanks to @lumbee1 and son, @4LowandSlow, and @BILT4ME for their help and always helping. And a special thanks to @fourtrax for doing 99.9% of the work 😋.

The first power steering cooler had a leak from the factory and threads didn't seal. Replaced that last night. That was the final piece that was holding us up.

You will likely identify the source of that growling noise with a set of chasis ears. It removes the need for trial and error and therefore reduces your potential spending.

Before I left, I also bought new rear adjustable upper control arms and transfer case rebuild. . So still have to do those things. But yes, I need to do that and stop blindly chasing this issue.
