After my experience with a 2.5" body lift I would totally do it again if I lived in somewhere like Texas or Florida and I didn't wheel the rig very much. I would run a 3" body lift and a 2" suspension lift. Than I would get 37's and keep the stock gears. Than the rig would cruise at 80 mph so nice down the nice flat highways.......
I removed the winch, took out the grill, and everything else from there went smooth.
Two hours work, very easy. Just need to go to my AC guy to fill the gas back.
@COYS Awesome, love the museum! Having just finished the install of the suspension on my 80, yes you drove a long way but you would have spent at least that much time under the rig to do it yourself, ha ha. Well, I did.
Brand is Covercraft. Well made product, definitely doesn't come with enough 3m Velcro so keep that in mind, but for $70 it is a welcome addition. The gray color matches very well with the blueish gray 80 interior.
I give the fitment a 3.5/5, could be better could be a lot worse
Before I left, I also bought new rear adjustable upper control arms and transfer case rebuild. . So still have to do those things. But yes, I need to do that and stop blindly chasing this issue.
I was thinking it might be the bearing in the nose of the transfer case. When we lift our trucks, we change the angle which the bearing has been operating. That change can result in bearing failure if the bearing is well-worn.

I’ve got the same thing going on with mine. I’m right at 23.8” up front with my second hand 146VT springs, corrected caster with Landtank‘s 2.5” plates. I still have my stock DS up front, haven’t gone DC yet. I tore up my rear shaft at Roundup a couple weeks back so I’ve been rolling a couple of weeks with it removed waiting for a replacement to arrive. The feathered decel rattle is much less pronounced but still present. I’ve got adjustable rear control arms ready for the arrival of the rear DS so I can get my rear pinion dialed in. Talked to Georg about a gear reduced TC at Roundup so that may be in the cards. I’m pretty sure my truck has a bunch of miles on it with a locked VC before I got it which may also be a contributing factor.
