Why didn't you just hike up the hill? ;):D:hmm:

That would have been about a 20 mile hike to get to the area where I was hiking and looking for caves.....

Somewhere awesome - it’s been a while since I’ve posted/done anything worth posting!

Also - got to experience the drama of hearing a plane crash a few hundred yards away and the confused aftermath of WTF - running to see/help expecting bodies as crash was out of sight and kicked up a ton of desert dirt….

Thankfully pilot, wife and 2 dogs walked away completely unhurt.

Tried to land at a disused and blocked off runway….

I was just there and heard about the crash. Apparently they just cut the wings off and hauled it out on a U-Haul trailer.

Took it on it's first real trip of any miles. No wheeling.

Drove 300ish miles to a softball tourney and 300 back. Couple of passes that I slowed down to 60 on because I didn't like pushing it until I get a trans gauge and install my new cooler.

Replaced the weak rear door lock actuators with generic actuator motors. Not too bad, just a bit tedious. The shafts on the new motors are too small so I soldered the worm drive onto it.

Put 1000 miles on her. Chattanooga to Jacksonville to see a Customer. Caught Braves game on the way back with a couple buddies. World Series replica ring give away night to boot.

Good trip. Truck did amazing. Averaged almost 80 mph for the trip. She’s the best.

I’m Purging all the red out to make room for the “green” anti-freeze.
It’s takes about 4 times of using distilled water to get it clear…I drain out from block plug and radiator which is about 3-3 1/2 gallons a pop, fill, drive it a bit and repeat till clear..

That begs of course the question: why go from red to green?

It is also cheaper and easier to find.

finally got some free time and good weather to install the radio parts i've had for a few months. cross posted here from the Comms forum for 80 visibility.

Diamond K400 SMA NMO hatch mount with Comet SSB-5 NMO antenna. also have the stubby SSB-1 on standby. i left the thin metal strip between the grub screws and hatch....not sure if that is right or not? reception seems OK but don't have a SWR meter or antenna analyzer.

zip ties, then tucked into the weather strip

loosened the latch to tuck the wires tighter. didn't need to trim anything there as the wire is thin enough to slip between the light and inner housing. wires pass through the same grommet as the tail light wires.

ran the antenna wire along the drivers side, exiting at the B pillar seatbelt lower mount, under the drivers seat, under the center console, and popping out on the passenger side tunnel. the stock K400 antenna wire ran out of length at the seatbelt, so the extension WAS necessary. 6' would have worked fine in hindsight but 9' gives me flexibility to mount a future mobile radio anywhere i want (even though its probably going in the @Delta VS center console). currently have a Baofeng HT, so added a 90* adapter and a Female-Female adapter. radio mount came from @Outsane with a short Ram arm and Ram ball screwed into an existing hole on the @Delta VS shift console. The radio mount is VERY tight on the Baofeng for some reason...almost like my battery is thicker than designed for, even though its the stock battery. No matter, with the external antenna and speaker/mic, i don't need to constantly remove the radio.

nice job on the routing. wish I'd done it your way!

I installed 4runner horns today!
You'll need one of each of these (two horns total) one is high pitch, one is low pitch (i don't recall which P/N is which)
P/N: 86510-60300 QTY 1
P/N: 86520-60250 QTY 1

How do they sound? In the past I installed some Hella horns in my Civic. They were so loud you could honk in a parking structure and set off some car alarms.

Honestly I am thinking of doing it in the Land Cruiser but I got to figure out the horn button first in the LC as it appears not to work.

Assembling head, missing a temp sensor and some hardware. I bought my motor from a nice guy doing a LS swap and he kept some parts. My current in the rig running 1fz has all This stuff but I want to get it all assembled and just drop it in.

I just put in a set of horns from a Ford Econoline. $5 at the junk yard and the wire connection is the same. Now the LC sounds like a truck and not a Camry. Mounting bolts aren't the same but I made it work

A while back, I bought a new set of horns for a Chrysler Town & Country and installed on my LC.

Now when I honk the horn it sounds like Angry Karen at a soccer game!
