Mounted the diff breather today. Waiting for a little bit warmer weather to run the hoses...

Using the wisdom of Mud, I got the rear hatch latch operational again. I found these Dorman 75450 latch clips for $3.33 on Amazon and sorted through until I found one that didn;t need too much modification - it was clear, but I don't think anyone will notice. Pretty easy once I found a good clip.

After that got settled, I realized the hatch latches/unlatches, but not snug enough to turn off the door sensor and dome light. Any thoughts? The only thing I noticed was that the rubber bit on the actual latch had split and come off.

Biggest thing i did was drop $2kAUD at wits end, wallets feeling nice and light again. Lots of misc. rubber hoses etc that are decades overdue for replacement but mainly a complete power steering system including the upgraded radiator to replace my corroded and bent paperclip.

Changed belts, the old ones were looking super crusty. Bearings are shot so I've put them back on for now while I wait for new ones to arrive from ebay.

Figured out my steering dampener resists in/out movement but if you pull too hard air bubbles bypass the seal... so yeah barely functional. Likely the case for all the other shockies too. Will add to the list of "to-do".

Got this bad boy in the mail. It's incredible and has everything you could think of including wiring diagrams, step by step photos and torque specs. $50AUD well spent if you ask me.

Replaced radiator overflow bottle and cap. The old plastic was cracking.

Lastly, found some toyota faux wool seat covers; nice and comfy.

Since the switch is part of the latch, you are likely not fully latching. There are two "steps" to the latch and it's just engaging the first one. This happens when the latch or striker is adjusted too tightly, which is opposite of what you might think.

Confirmed water intrusion into #6 cylinder....232,xxx miles. No record of the head gasket ever being replaced.

I built some seat relocation brackets and got myself 4 or 5 more inches of leg room. If you're over 6 foot tall, these 80s are super uncomfortable. I am 6'6 and this mod was an absolute must. Also replaced the seat gears with brass gears so now they move back and forth like new. Took it in a road trip this weekend and it was so much more enjoyable to drive.
