@thatcabledude, have you checked out the Diamond K400 series lip mount antenna mounts? Been working great for my Ham setup for a few years now. High on the hatch, but tucked in a bit from the side to avoid the worst of passing brush. If interested I can post pics of that particular weekend project.

- Cheers
Hadn’t looked at that one. If you mounted it on the rear hatch I wouldn’t mind seeing a few pics of your install.

Thanks

Not the greatest thing to take pics of, but rough one of mine.

Put a new DC rear shaft into my LX450! What a difference that made!

Very thorough spotter

I’d just gone through ignoring spotting and am picking up my driveshaft from retubing for the second time in as many weeks :hillbilly:.

Different video perspective here along with said ignoring of spotting:

Some other shots.

Adjusted my pinion able with the rear adjustable ucas. Flanges were only off my 2* but I adjust them to be just right and the mild vibration I had above 70mph is gone. Nice and smooth at cruising speed. :) And yeah I know my D and P lights are both on. P light doesn't go off since switching bulbs to LEDs for some reason.

That's a fun trail. I need to head that way again soon. Hit Chianmans and Grizzly Lake.

The gulch type trails have gotten so much better due to the hammering by UTVs. The big obstacles aren’t that much different, but there are all kinds of emerging ledges and other stuff getting dug out that there’s hardly any just driving along remaining.

Whales Tail seemed actually nicely filled in at the base. I’m always too chicken to do the big whale tail line far left, but my son went up pretty easily on his 1st gen Taco on 35” Patagonia MTs with just a rear locker. 124” wheelbase helps there, but still. Middle line here:

All shiny and new again. This costs $121.57 as an added trip cost to ignore spotters.

Alrighty then...finally got some pics to share of the Diamond K400 antenna mount. I got the idea for this mount from here on MUD, out of the Communication & Navigation forum. Like @retrofive, I've been real pleased with this setup and would not do it differently.

The attached antenna is a Comet SBB-2, which is a dual-band unit with NMO mounting base, 18" long, 1/4-wave (on 2M). It's rated for 60 Watts, but is hasn't blown up yet from the 75 Watts I usually push through it.

And...a pic of the radio(s). The Ham unit is a Kenwood TM-281.

Thank you sir. I dig it!

Option A - cut it out and repair it.

Option B - don’t cut it out and repair it and let it get worse.

Pulled some 450 cladding and discovered some cancer. Rest of the rig is pretty clean. Driver's side rear. Open to / looking for suggestions.....

Option A - cut it out and repair it.

Option B - don’t cut it out and repair it and let the vehicle completely dissolve.

Edited for clarity.
