Tried my hand at body work. Backstory: I should have taken photos of the “before”. Was on the trail and my spotter went brain dead. My rear tire carrier smacked into 5 foot high boulder. The rotopax knob pushed a nasty 6 x4” series of dents, dings creases. Cracked my upper tailgate “Landcruiser” emblem as well. “Tapper” screw in slide hammer, Bondo, pneumatic sander, sanding block, primer and flat black. I used flat black because I didn’t want to try and match the gray paint of the body, it would just look off.

Started to troubleshoot an issue with my roofrack lights. There are 2 separate circuits and both were impacted so immediately suspected a bad earth.
The three 6AWG (2 separate +ve feeds and 1 -ve feed) are part of a harness I made that routes up through the snorkel to get to the roof.
This is what I found when I opened the harness.

I can't remember ever seeing this level of corrosion. The 3 cables at this area had a cable shield and marine heat shrink with no external evidence of damage.
It's been up there less than a year. Not sure what would cause this level of electrical corrosion.

little things between kids naps since I’m home. Re-glued hood because it was fluttering like mad passengers thought it was gonna pop up. Used 100% silicone. Broke all the retainer clips. Ordered more on eBay. $14

Also looks like it’s time to do valve cover gasket.

Also found gear oil in the filter at end of extended breather tube. Weird.

Knocked a couple more items off my "things to do when you are on lockdown" list. Started off fitting my Joey huggers available from witsend (80 Series Nut Hugger- Toyota Solid Axle Knuckle)

Will do the bendy bit after I clock 500 miles which might be Christmas at this rate.

Then I decided some painting would be therapeutic so I started out with the hubs on all 4 corners.

Then I thought this will look like s***e unless I also do the lug nuts so....

...fresh out of the oven...

Last task of the day was painting the front axle.

@Onur Mentioned I should have just pulled the axle cause it would have been easier and would have used up a half day...I wish I had listened to him..:D

I suspect you got copper clad aluminum wire. Copper does not corrode like that, but aluminum sure does.

Not sure to be honest but I will be replacing the whole harness with a less flexible copper wire.

Use tin plated copper marine wire, never have to worry about it again!

What bothers me is that I have used this same wire on a few different runs on my truck. Knowing what caused the corrosion would help but now I think I will be getting rid of it and using something else. The marine wire does sound like the way to go..

After this lockdown everyone's cruiser should be in f***ing tip top shape.. lol

Just in time to bug out.

Beats hoarding toilet paper. Can never have too much ammo. Any M118 LR in that batch?

Straight up Lake City .30 caliber Ball M2. 5,640 rounds to be precise.:bounce:

Not that second-tier down-sized stuff. ;)

I wired my navigation lights with Anchor marine wire 13 years ago, it lives in salt water, no problems yet @Irish Reiver

Is the upper end of the wire exposed enough to get water in it? I've seen battery cables corroded from battery acid all the way across an engine compartment.

Ordered some parts from Phil and Joey.
Deleting my rear heater.

Going to use the space to install this little gmrs radio
