But what kind of testing? What are the dimensions/materials of your unbendable links?

Any kind of testing. Let me know if you want a set. Looks like the latest design will have Xaxis on both ends.

Tackled a couple small things yesterday. The gas struts for the hood and liftgate have been getting tired and the cold weather has made it more of an issue. So I got all four struts replaced. @LandCruiserPhil I know you've been looking for compatible struts. Maybe you found some already but here's the links to the ones I used. Ordered from Amazon. Fit will and seem to be decent quality. Time will tell.

No more fear of the hood or liftgate cracking my head /
Thanks ordered:clap:

The other thing I've been trying to solve in a variety of ways has been a dome light over the front seats that illuminates when the doors open. I know others have done different things but I found a simple little LED at the local parts store that fit very well right on the "foot" of the rear view mirror. I tapped the wires into the harness for the small lights on the doors that come on when the door opens. Works great and now I have a nice bright cabin in the front as well as the second and third rows. I already have PFran LEDs in the overhead map light and in the rear dome light. My 2nd row dome lights are incorporated into my overhead DVD player. All of them come on when any door is opened.

Thanks. Ordered and installed hood struts. Keeping my backup pvc pipe just incase, but very nice to have operational hood again

very nice rig. what size wheels are those and offset? Do you have any rubbing issues with those on full flex?
35” Wrangler MT/R’s 15 x 10 Procomp steelies, only rub so far was the mud flaps. About 5 min with a sledge hammer fixed that though. I haven’t had a chance to run it through full range of motion.

I am heading up to the mountain this weekend and will try and get a full flex pic...

Have you tried using a large breaker bar and bumping the engine over to break that bolt loose?

That is where I started with the process. I've never had one not come loose on the first or second try. That is what got it off eventually after 2 days of lube and manually loosening the bolt a touch with the flywheel method.

Just because I’m probably not the only one wondering, what’s the offset or backspacing number for those wheels?

I came in from a track on the west side at Trona. Took a track through there to barker Ranch then Geologists Cabin. Then furnace Creek. But there is a highway that runs through the middle of death valley too. If you look at the satelite fotos or an off road GPS you will see the tracks. Top off your fuel.

Thanks for asking! This is straight from the ProComp website...

  • Wheel Size: 15x10
  • Bolt Pattern: 6 on 5.5
  • Backspace: 3.75
  • Finish: Flat Black
  • Center Caps and Lug Nuts Not Included
  • Replacement Center Cap Part Number: PXA1425017
Hope this helps

Finished up replacing oil pump gasket, front crank seal, new OEM belts (sooooo much quieter now than the duralast junk I had previously put in there), and oil change.

Was using a 1/2 breaker bar because I already had a 30 mm socket in that size...ended up breaking the breaker bar. So ran up to the store and got a 3/4 30 mm socket then I was able to do the starter bump method successfully.

I stripped 2 screws on the oil pump cover and they were kinda a pain in the a$$ to get out but eventually did. Thankfully didn't screw up the threads. Pun intended.

But overall was an interesting learning experience and glad to get the front of the engine cleaned up and sounding smoother.

I dragged my neighbor and his Honda Pilot back to his house after the Honda died. His wife cooked the alternator and drove it until the battery died. Got him home last night and then dragged him back into town to a shop to get it fixed this morning. Note: Honda Pilots have a useless and ridiculously small front tow point.
