Huh. That might be a good thing to have. I have a stihl but you probably know that the smell of chainsaw gas, and leaky bar oil in the carpet gets old quick. A fully charged battery (and a charger and inverter) should get you through most deadfall or blowdown on a trail if your just out exploring, unless its been a really windy year or something. Plus that saw looks a bit smaller than a gas job.
I carry a dewalt 20v grinder, USA made 1/2 impact and chainsaw and usually a 1/2 drill a dewalt charger and run them off or recharge them thru a 700watt PSW gopower ivertor hooked directly to a 100AH odyessy extreme (house battery) never left me wanting. 700 watt keeps my 18650s charged, my laptops cameras and 20volt batteries No need for some 1500-2K invertor. jmo

Sorry to hijack, but do you use the 1/2" impact much? We had them at work (dewalt 18V), but I've never really felt I needed one for the most part. Anything an impact can do, a socket wrench with a snipe on the end can do. A "cross" style lug nut tool works great to crack nuts loose and then has enough mass to just smack or spin one arm of the cross shaped tool to spin them off, and thats where most folks seem to use the impact tools. I agree with the grinder and drill on wheeling trips, but its just more of a liability ffor me to leave them in the truck on a regular basis.

I do use the cordless 20V drill when wrenching, with a 3/8, or 1/2" socket adapter for removing nuts or bolts with a long thread to them sometimes. Im not sure why folks bother with air tools for doing this as opposed to cordless tools.

I use it for wheels and with an extension and a wobbly it will remove anything on the truck. so it sits in rear at all times and freezing hot weather dosent drop the battery at all. Im doing an "overland" tool video and this will be in it. with 2 batteries I have chainsaw, impact grinder drill its pretty much epic.

i have a porter cable 1/2" that lives in the LC. i use it for everything it has a surprising amount of torque and can break just about every nut free on these things with ease. battery has a good long life despite the abuse it endures too.

Just have to be careful who you let get a hold of it. some folks like to pull the trigger before its fully seated because they think theyre on a NASCAR pit crew. ;)

I use a 3/8" cordless impact wrench all the time. One of the absolute most useful tools I have.

My rigs idle has always been dodgy, it's 'a 93 and I've always believed it was the OBD or some ghost sensor that's known to plague the '93.

A month ago the idle got a little worse and the acceleration became somewhat of an issue, very low. The wizards ( @Tools R Us and @inkpot ) diagnosed a couple of cylinders (2,5) did not have the proper compression, a few others were off too.

1. Removed the valve cover and discovered the head was cracked and the 1/2 the valves were machined incorrectly by PO.

2. Rebuilt the oil pump and the power steering pump.

3. Replaced all the vacuum hoses around the intake housing, PHH, power steering hoses, etc.

4. Getting ready to put the new head on and piece it back together.

5. Put in a temperature gauge also.

Excited to get this thing rolling around again.

@Irish Reiver made his way up to my house to show off his beautiful FZJ80. And I'm totally stoked that he did. It's a beautifully built 80...

He posed a bit with the rest of the local fleet....

Then he showed off the rig to @CatskillsRunner whom immediately wanted me to build one in replication.....

Then some troubleshooting of the OBD1 system ...

@NLXTACY : Your OBA system is pretty damn killer. First time seeing it up close. **very nice** (in my best Borat voice) You have absolutely killed it with this system.

@beno its AMAZES me ho @Irish Reiver simply stands outside at MY house windy as hell and freezing in a t shirt not even noticing the cold. hes an freak of nature. .

The LS is a great stable mate for an 80. I am very torn I have a 2006 which is the last year for the 430, and often think about trading up to a 460, but I don't love the looks of the 460 and a lot like 80's guys, 430 people say the 460's are not as well built as the 430's ugh.

As part of 430 fanboy club I commend you to stick around with the 430. I’ve tried the 460 it’s simply a little too big for DD. AND besides it’s a little quieter the 460 doesn’t ride much if any better than my 430 sport. There is a certain feel 430 has that no other LS has, she is almost just like the 80! I even like the look better than the 460. In fact my ls430 and lx450 are color matched, BSF(best stablemate forever).:p:D

Agree with all points except ride quality. I don't own either but have limited experience with both. The 460L version is about as smooth as humanly possible. Would love to DD one even with the extra length.

Ah, haven’t tried the 460L. I only tried the regular 460 and I wasn’t impressed. I’m sure the 460L UL rides amazing.

Tried going to the mall, but they only allow Jeeps so I went and buried my truck in the swamp trail at my house. Bottomless muck beats lockers and KM3's! My winch is dead (again) so it was my daughter and her 80 with a working winch on her 80 to the rescue. I didn't heed the hollering and peeled the flare off of it. At least I actually did SOMETHING with my truck. Totally happy.
