Parked next to this beast today. First time my big red truck felt small.

Serious ground clearance with portal axels.

I see a few around town - I'm a huge fan.

I'd immediately put as small a sized wheel I could fit over the brakes and as big a profile and wide AT I could stuff. Those factory C-Class looking wheels/tires are a travesty. Euros not so great at finishing up a great looking offroad truck. USA USA USA!

Thats fixible to make a trail spare. Use some proper volcanizing compound.
Why do all the tire shops say u can't that the flexing on the patch causes cat. Failure?

Not this weekend, but ya know.

This summer, three days out from a 3.5 week trip - this happened.

A couple months of searching for an engine, getting it running, etc. Only to find out it needed new crank bearings. Replaced those, 02 sensor, random hoses and air lines. But at the end of the day, I have a working Land Cruiser again and it feels f-ing great.

No dude keep them on keep the salt out.
Keep the salt out of what? Everything under those will still get covered from wet salty roads. Might reduce some of the moisture on the drive flanges but not much. Only reason to keep them on IMO is if you like the look. Personally, I think it will look better without the caps.

Strange that someone from the desert would be commenting on salt in the northeast. If you lived here you wouldnt ask.

No offense intended. Even though Utah is a desert we are known for our winters and snow, Utah is described as having “the greatest snow on earth”. Regrettably the roads here are salted in the winter too so I’m not completely ignorant to its effects. I’ll concede it may not be as extreme as the NE.

New battery hold down, $8 on Amazon. Opened the hood a few days ago and the original one finally bit the dust. I used a short ratchet strap in the factory holes for a few days until this one arrived. We'll see how well it lasts... feels solid for now.

Next up will be some new battery terminals, fresh fusible link, etc... get it cleaned up a bit in there.

Salted roads and road conditions in the north east are horrible. There is a reason used cars from New England and used cars from the south west are valued differently.
