Did some wheeling over Memorial Day, hit up Hollister Hills OHV in Northern California. It had been over 14 years since we last went but managed to get the same crew together which was pretty cool. I was in my 97 on 37's and my buddy John was in a Lexus GX470 on 33's. I haven't installed lockers yet and this trip really exemplifies how well they work.. John coasted through this, albeit on two wheels, while I had to use quite a bit of momentum. Either way it was good times. Fun comparison so thought I'd share.

Missed you by a day. My friend took her stock '04 4Runner (with non working 4Lo) and me in my '96 80 and 9 kids! Mostly messed around in the obstacle course, but we all had a blast. Pretty sure at least a few of those kids are now off road enthusiasts!
With fuel, carb rebuild and a battery it’ll fire up. He also has a 4bt in the shed next to it. However, just like all of the stuff on his farm, he has no interest in working on them or selling. Most other things are junk(lotta fords) but few cool things. Pretty cool Suzuki carry(3 cyl truck, about the size of a polaris rzr 900) that needs minor love, a cult following with those for sure.
Rebuilt the front axles. Had been putting it off for a while. Poor girl hasn’t had much attention over the last year. I must say I have this down to a science now though. Both sides start to finish in about 6 hours!
Next is the window regulators.

Of all of the mods I have done to my rig, the most impactful by far was the addition of lockers. I wheeled my rig from 97 through 2010 without them so I really appreciate the difference they make.
Broke a valve stem off in a mud hole. Then popped the spare tire. Did not have an extra stem, had to break down tires to swap rims with a Hi-lift and 2 pry bars. Thank God for on-board air.
Had to head back yesterday. First wheeling trip in Grand Junction - I’ve wanted to for years, but it’s always passing through to Moab. We camped up in the Monument.
We got back to just past the tadpole closure area in 21 Road. I was out with my oldest sons who just graduated high school and six of their friends including @Andrew Bluemel who’s center diff wouldn’t lock. 2 80’s, 2 3rd gen 4Runners, and a 1st gen Taco. A ton of fun, but slow going.
We also spent an afternoon out in the BLM land after driving in on Tue. That was a lot more fun than expected.
What’s new out in Bangs? We had planned to explore out there yesterday morning before heading home, but decided it was best to take it easy and roll out.
