Went camping with my Scout Troop in the Pine Barrens of Southern NJ (yes, there is a South, and it is vastly different than the North :))

It was the inaugural trip for my new RTT and we had torrential downpours both nights.

Plusses - Tent held up great through multiple thunderstorms, was super comfortable, and was dry as a bone.
Minuses - being on top of your vehicle in a severe lightning storm is not fun (we took shelter), and packing the tent away this morning in the pouring rain was a PIA. Now Ive got a 130 + pound sopping wet tent and no sun for the next week :hmm:.

Once I work out the logistics of getting it on and off the roof single-handed, I think it will be a useful addition to the truck.

Exactly. Mine weighs 200 lbs completely dry.

Came home for the weekend, parked the LS and drove the 80 about 400 miles before I parked it. Now that the 80 is officially a play toy and weekend driver, I’m taking it through the next set of upgrades.. it will look a bit different in 3-4 weeks when I share pics

Installed new rear brakes and calipers.
plastidipped my wheels
Installed new front speakers
Almost finished installing a new rear subwoofer in the factory position and also a rear camera licence plate frame.

Explored around terlingua and big bend national park. Camped a little at this spot...it was amazing. Still having overheating problems though...even with brand new radiator I was getting to over 220* on highway hill climbs. Cooled right back down on the downhills... Not sure what it could be

Have you replaced/upgraded the fan-clutch? If you are having overheating problems especially at highway speed this is more than likely the culprit.

I can't say enough good things about the landtank upgraded fan-clutch you can buy through witsend. Dropped my average temps by around 10 degrees.

I have not...It is a plug-and-play part, correct? I just unbolt old unity with fan, put fan on new unit, then reinstall?

If you get the fan clutch from witts end they it is plug and play. Might be worth getting new fan harware from his site as well.

Well it also prob cost twice as much as my non hardshell. Overall I’m prettu happy with my tepui ruggedized.
maybe, actually I paid 1500 shipped.

I just moved mine out of the main driveway spot so I could work on my GTI's exhaust........
