damn, now I wish my clunker was black so I could call it the "sex panther."

Update: it doesn’t do it in neutral. When it starts happening I kick it in to neutral and it goes away.

Maybe @Tools R Us or @jonheld will chime in.
Maybe a slip yolk flogging around? Does it only do it when the drive line is unloaded, like in that sweet spot between acceleration and deceleration?

Yeah, I’m wondering if they overgreased the slip yoke/drive shaft when I had the oil changed. This started the day after...

It will sit today as I have to work but I will put the front driveshaft and rear drive shaft, separately, and troubleshoot.

U joints are all less than a year old.

Not u joints. Slip yolks. Pull the grease nipple off the yolk and compress the shaft to squeeze out the excess.
It's also a good idea to clean out the female end of the yolk every 10 years or so. Match mark before you separate.

Yeah, I know what you meant. I was trying to get across that when I replaced the u joints I pulled the axle shaft apart (pull the slip yoke), cleaned it all out, installed grease, tried to compress with the grease zero in, dropped it on my face because it wouldn’t, broke a tooth, found out in mud that I need to remove the zerk, did so, all better.

I crawled underneath this morning and check the knuckles to make sure they weren’t low (need to do my axle job, she leaks a bit at the knuckles). PS was about 1/2 full, DS was really low. Still had a film on the ball but was low. I filled them to 2/3, drove it to mix it around, checked and level was right.

I also looked at the slip yoke. The shaft was dry. And actually showing a little light corrosion on it. Don’t seem to recall this as being “normal”. I would think it should show some grease like the balls of the birfs. Am I correct in this thinking?

Had to get going to work so I will pull it when I get home and see if I grenaded it. Hopefully not.

I suppose I should take this over to my thread instead of muddying up the weekend thread.

Went up to MA to pass along my old steel wheels to a Mud member and crossed another milestone.

Yeah - it fits perfect and my wife actually approved and thought it was funny.

Unfortunately I don’t think Florida willl approve the vanity plate - SXPNTHR

Was able to move two Land Cruisers out of Arizona sun. By adding ~800sq/ft of covered carport I now can have covered parking for even more.:D

I'm working on something similar, only here it is pine needles raining down rather than UV ferocity. Just as damaging tho.

Let's see those new Cruisers!

Used the truck to go adopt this guy today from a coworker that could no longer keep him, I’m sure he’ll enjoy our 7 acres to run on. 1 year old heeler/husky mix.

So the saga continues...

Go to pull the front drive shaft, push the CDL button. No locking center diff light.

Well, here is what the slip yoke looks like. I have no idea how much grease should be in there but it sure doesn’t look like enough.

Going to try to drive it. See if the light is just burned out on the dash or if the switch is bad. Have a feeling the switch is bad.

Edit: bulb must be burned out. Drives with just rear drive shaft in. Noise seems less pronounced. Don’t have time to deal with it. She goes to my buddy’s shop Monday. Doh!

chap79 , that dog looks a little edgy. Had a couple of border collies in recent years--make no mistake, I am betting that new dog is way smart... he just looks all Wile E. Coyote-like.

I feel ya. The Jake Busey psycho killer eyes are a little disturbing. Hopefully my old Aussie will keep him in check.
