I had a headlight go out while in Moab last week. I've been running some Cree LED replacement bulbs for the past 3 years that have been great. I had no idea what to expect on the longevity so I guess now I know. I found these on Ebay originally. These are the ones I've had for the past 3 years.

When the light burned out last week, I looked for some replacements and came across these, also on ebay, and decided to give these a try. A few differences. Aluminum housing instead of plastic, external ballast, slightly different fan design and two peice connectors. With the open vents in the back of the fan portion I'm curious to see if that becomes a problem with crap getting inside the fan mechanism. The LED itself is a larger surface area and there are 4 of them on angled sides compared to the two diodes on opposite sides on the old ones. The old ones are listed at 2000lm and these new ones are listed at >8000lm and once in the headlights the actual output seems about the same but it could have as much to do with the headlight lens and anything else.
Anyway, just sharing this in case anyone is looking.

Had to make a midweek trip to DC with thefor an event, decided to park and eat some food we'd brought in a small Maryland parking lot. Maybe this post provides some contrast to the gonzo Moab media I keep slathering over. Truck made the trip easy, conquered all potholes.

is it any brighter than stock light bulb ?
Yup. I added a slee headlight harness and a set of LED bulbs like that last weekend. Huge improvement over stockis it any brighter than stock light bulb ?
Much brighter than stock bulbs.is it any brighter than stock light bulb ?
Did you have any issues with the old ones being to bright in rain or snow. I had some 8000k LED just like that in Angie's Taco and in bad weather it looked you engaged hyper-drive. I could not see past the hood. I know they were not pointed to high since we were not get flashed by oncoming cars.Much brighter than stock bulbs.
