Finally got the grill finished. Still need to touch up around inside of the O's, but it turned out OK. I must say I am really not impressed with the way the semi-gloss Rustoleum Automotive paint in black went on. It kept wrinkling on me and I can't really say why. The only thing I can think of is that it might have been a little cool in my basement when I was doing this, but that didn't affect the white or the primer. At any rate, it's close enough and I decided to peel the tape off the letters rather than continue to futz with it.

I spent some time bumping around the state forest up here in Minnesota. I've been out in western Colorado for the last 4 years so the contrast to the desert is pretty cool. I do love the simple charms that Minnesota offers. I also started my new job which is a 50 mile round trip each day in the RoLex, she's running great! Posting a solid 14 mpg.

An incredible sight. Over 30 cruisers of varying vintage.

I found the GPS imbedded in the photo. Hooking up the trailer now...See you soon.

It's awesome to see them all together yet sad to see their condition. Good thing you're down in Florida. If I were near that i'd be trying to buy half of them!:hmm:

I AM! Here now.

At lunch with owner. Discussing offer.

Truly Land Cruiser mecca. There are another 20+ that you can’t see in a back row. 40’s, 45’s, 55’s, more. Most have a little rust but none of them look too bad. I think they are all mostly recoverable.

The black anodizing on my Comeup Fairlead has faded over the past few years and wasn't looking great.

Comeup has started offering a sweet replacement fairlead with a slightly different profile to match their "Comeup race team" fairleads. The matte black anodizing is much better quality too. I picked up the last one they have at the moment to replace my faded one. Nothing too exciting but it definitely looks better.

crawled underneath and cleaned off some of the rust preventative so i could see how many TERP outlets i had.
oil pump o ring definitely,steering gear box-yes.
going to tackle those soon, still need to do rear brakes.

In my quest to change the badging, I also wound up adding 7HP and 320 rods better MPG by adding one of @bhicks TEQ units in lieu of the 24K gold sombrero. My justification was that I needed to see the holes the old one was mounted into for rust documentation purposes. It passed. No rust back there. ;)

It's easier on the eyes anyway. :)

Considering selling my 97 LC due to head gasket failure. Anyone know what is the rough estimate for list of parts for new head, HG set, hoses, water pump, etc? It only has 147K miles and overheated due to rear coolant lines rusting out slowly and losing coolant slowly over long period of time...Not driving it much, we didn't realize how low it would get at times. Arghh! I wanna keep it but something tells me its too expensive to fix!

If you do it yourself, figure on $2K with machine shop work included at a minimum. I went above and beyond with mine and it ended up being around $3500. Totally worth it.

This was my thread. I did everything except the crank seal and oil pump seal because I didn't have a way to torque the crank bolt to 304ftlbs, but I do now and it's on my list. I have the parts though.

Head Gasket Checklist, things to consider replacing as long as I am in there.
