BR, how did you attach that can basket to the swingout?

Took our new little guy for his first ride in the 80. Just about out of seats, now. 3 in car seats, and 14 year old twins.

Meet Luke...

Congrats man! Beautiful baby!

Exactly one year since I first got my cruiser. There's been a lot of work doing PMs and cleaning up neglect but I feel like its really starting to come together finally. Just a couple more things before I'm completely done with all the boring PMs and clean up work. Here's a little before and after shot.

This was the first day I got it.

Finished the rustoleum paint job and painting the cladding and flares black. Sorry for the potato quality, it was getting late. Still going to paint the mirrors and door handles, just waiting for some time to do it.

Close up shot of the texture I left on the paint. I know I could sand it out and buff it, but I honestly don't mind the texture and I'm a little burnt out on the paint process at the moment...

It feels like there's still a lot of work to do, and there are so many little issues that just seem to creep up. But it's nice to look back and see the progress and feel some sense of accomplishment.

There is a vertical "post" that is now welded to the end of the swing arm and the basket it welded to that. There is also a horizontal support from the main vertical piece holding the tire out to the vertical piece holding the basket.

That unit sure looks well built!
- Continuous duty fan cooled motor(must have feature!)
- 3/4 horsepower motor
- 49 amp draw @ 100 psi
- 1.5 cfm @ 100 psi
- Continuous duty up to 150 psi, Max pressure 200 psi.
- Can be mounted in any orientation
- 14" long, 6" wide, 9", tall

Biggest issue I have with it is 1.5 CFM, with 35s that would 4-5 minutes per tire, the air up time would be close to half an hour for me. I might even go 37 one day so speed is definitely a must, after a long day on the trails I want to go home or get to food ASAP. :steer:

Speed is the reason I personally think the Smitty built(also not commonly liked for quality) and ARB twins are the only 2 options. 10 minutes and I'm back on the road!

I am not sure what the actual cfm is when I am airing up, but it only takes me about 3 and a half mins per tire to air up my 35s to 38 psi from 16 psi. I have never thought it to be too slow.

Check out their Magnum Model; even more output. Just the fact it can be mounted on the frame rail out of the way and be impervious to the elements has me considering one.

Live in NC, moving there, or visiting?

I'm headed to NC for a week of wandering and biking with my 80 next week.

I'm moving back to live in NC. after a few years of living in Florida and overseas.

Under hood LEDs. What a huge difference it makes. I ordered these off eBay. If you message the seller he will knock off $5 if you buy the kit and an extra light strip. Super quick shipping. I had mine from Hawaii to North Carolina in four days. Seller also offers a one-year warranty on everything.

Under Hood LED Light Kit - Automatic on/off - Universal Fits Any Vehicle White | eBay
LED Strip - 12" 30 LED Chips 5050 SMD - Automatic Hood Light Add-on | eBay

Kit comes with 1x 12" led strip. I ordered a second from the seller.

LEDs attach perfectly to the curve on the interior of the hood. Make sure you clean this area several times. It will take way more than the alcohol towel they include....so use some alcohol and paper towels.

The kit comes with a hood switch to turn the lights on/off but I opted for a rocker switch that I already had so I can turn them on and off whenever I want.

Lousy pics but I whipped out a simple fuel can basket last night. I have a trip coming and needed a better way to carry extra fuel. Have debated a second swingout but didn't really want to go that route. Solution? Single can holder added to the existing swingout. It meant moving the hilift mount. That's getting relocated to the hinge side of the swingout.

More pics please of the swingout.. I too have a single swing out on my Hanna rear and want to burn on an extra mount for extra fuel.. Trying to get ideas....

@sleepycruiser check out a "hood pin switch" . You open the hood and the light turns on . Very easy install.

The kit actually came with one but I wanted control of when it was on so decided not to use it.

Replaced front and rear lift supports. $40 off eBay. Sure is nice to open the hood and hatch without having to use a support rod.

Disabled the EGR network and shorted the EGR temp sensor. Trucks runs a lot better now, and no code 71 (yet). Hoping for better efficiency.

Replaced the ultra-cheap Wix oil filter with a K&N unit. Had a terrible time removing the Wix filter. No room in there for real leverage. Looking into a remote filter setup just to make it easier for me to replace the oil filter.

Installed a Bluetooth FM transmitter. Sounds great!! $18 off Wish.com. No need to replace the head unit now.

The truck runs great!!

I unbolt the PS reservoir to change the oil. Makes it a lot easier to get my hands in there.

There's a mod for the oil filter that involves a 90 degree Ford adapter that makes it spin off from the bottom. Part runs about $80 through Summit Racing.
Found it: Installation of 90 degree oil filter adapter on 1FZFE
