What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (60 Viewers)

Got my fancy new bracket a la @NLXTACY installed. I switched it up a little bit and made it 2.5" on the flat part instead of 4".

I think I will have a new one made that extends up to the water bottle so it is long enough to hold the aux fuse panel instead of having it mounted to the cruise control cover. Didn't think about it until I was almost done installing it. I am going to get some 90 degree crimp ends and drill a hole down through for the 2 ga wire. Will be a little cleaner. As it is it could rub on the edge of the bracket. I added some extra layers of heat shrink and cut a piece of 5/8" heater hose and slid over it in the meantime.

I got my inverter mounted under my sleep platform. I used 3/16" flat stock and the third row seat bolts. I squeezed a few washers under it on the one side to help level it out (could use a couple more). Rattle canned it then grinded off the paint on the one hole to use as the ground. Plugged a fan in to it and it works! Pretty exciting!

Your wiring looks great, but whats the blue slim on the washer bottle...

It was like that when I got it. It bugs the crap out of me! I've tried cleaning it but it won't come off. I have a water bottle and bladder from a 91-92 (aka JSM washer bottle) that I'll be putting in at some point.

Preventative maintenance, aint technically the weekend but I'm technically unemployed right now sooooo.... Since I bought the truck I put 5k miles on it in about 2 months on the dot.
Oil change at Toyota ran me 40 bucks, not too bad in my opinion for 8 quarts and an hour of catching up on paperwork in the place plus free crappy coffee. lifetime free rotation and balance on the tires at Americas tire and tightened my shocks up in the front which made my front end clunk and rattle for the most part go away. all in prep to go up to the snow and trade bumpers near Dunsmuir. didn't get an alignment in but ill take care of that another day.

Got the 4X4Labs basic kit with no swingout. Did the single swingout because I want to mount the tire in the middle. Going to see how it works out. If I dont like it I can always swap a single for dual. Need to find a spot for hammock mount.

I really like the clean lines of the 4x4 labs bumpers but I have never understood why the spare has to be so high. Other bumpers are like this too. You don't have to block 80% of the rear window to fit a 35" or 37" tire back there.

This is why I welded mine up higher. Plus more clearance when you back up against whatever. Rather hit the bumper instead of smashing the tire into the tailgate.

I guess that was obvious and I missed it. :) I'm not extreme enough to worry about that steep of a departure angle.

Looking at old pictures from this past summer up in Michigan on the trails near Leroy

Received my new OPOR Sliders on Friday, cleaned them up and rattle canned them today in prep for install tomorrow. I have to say I am mighty impressed with them and Metal Tech. Ordered them last Friday evening and they arrived at my work (over a thousand miles away) in a week. These things are very stout and I will have zero concerns about damaging my 80 once they are installed. And they cost just $680 delivered to SoCal.

I hemmed and hawed about which slider to buy or if I should just build them myself, after (too) much hand wringing I finally found out the OPOR sliders were on sale at MetalTech and they now included the rear dimple plate as standard so I pulled the trigger. I wish I would have seen these in person earlier and just skipped all the unnecessary waffling. Sweet Jesus, these are the deal of the century and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

How did you get them for $680 shipped? Was there a code?
Installed my new OPOR Sliders!

Top Tip, don't do this solo. Just because it's possible doesn't make it a good idea!

Also got my refinished rim and new matching spare tire with the rest of the rig so I can rotate it through. Allowed me to get rid of the janky-assed 12 year old POS tire that I was relying on... It went under the rear and nobody will see the cool rim but I will know it's there.

Looks awesome congrats! I just found out about these today! how did you get them for 680 delivered? How much was shipping? THANKS!

Added a CDL switch today and did the 7 pin mod

Just to confirm....as there were 2 wires on the 7 pin harness that were black and blue....it needs to be the smaller of the 2? After disconnecting it I put the LC in 4LO and the Diff Lock light did not come on until I pushed the CDL switch so I am sure it was the correct wire I disconnected.

I used the 80 to pick my wife up from work. People were getting crazy in PDX Snowmageddon 2016. Grabbed some KrispyCream donuts and a new pair of Danner boots for the drive home.

NW Skyline detour around blocked hw30.

It's the one that's in pin 7, hence the name of the mod.;)

It sounds like you got the right one though.

Haha....well I counted one way and it was pin 7 and if I counted the other way the other one was pin 7.

I was able to put it into 4LO and it engaged with no CDL light and then the light came on once I pushed the CDL button so I think it is ok.

I may do that this weekend as well. Mostly I have to get my muffler hooked back up. Snowboarding on Sunday.
