I used a new cityracer booster and new fj80 master on my 40 and did no adjusting and it works fine so far. Main reason I didn't adjust the push rod is that I didn't know I needed to...guess I got lucky?

If your truck is lifted with an OME setup, it may already have the anti inversion tabs installed on the shackle mounts. OME does provide them. You can get them here as well: FJ40, FJ45, FJ60, FJ62, BJ Old Man Emu - Anti Inversion Kit

Some folks choose not to weld them on...not sure why. Anyhow, if you do have them, just get some slightly longer barbell shackles and rock on. I got my shackles from CCOT. 1-1/2" HFS Shackles. They work just fine.
It doesn't have those brackets welded on. I got it wrecked from the PO and replaced the front suspension with the same ome lift that was already on there. Really just looking for a set to bolt on

Not really wrenching but finally did the mud flap eliminators from @LandCruiserPhil that have been sitting in the shed for a year since I nearly ripped my bumper off the other day........

Not really wrenching, but when it keeps looking like it's going to rain and snow, ya gotta do something....

Pulled the heat shields off my 80. I'm just going to say that baked on orange clay is a high temp ceramic coating on my exhaust manifolds.... I'll be ordering new studs and nuts for the new head, because these won't be coming out nicely. Sorry no pics, started sleeting.

And yes, I won't be doing this ever again.. cleaned and sanded/steel wooled these, then rouge and polishing wheel in my 1/2 inch from. last but not least, mother's power ball and polish. they match my polished valve cover now.

Installed new tire and cooler carrier. Would have been short work if I didn’t need to retap a hole and chisel out some P.O. handiwork on the inside of the bumper.

Very nice bumper! I love mine and the one I had on a previous truck!! If you got just the std basket and not one specific to a yeti, etc. then there is a Coleman cooler that fits perfect...and it's super cheap / found in Walmart.

Cotton locked axle swap under way. Rear is done along with OME 863's. Locker is working great. Front open axle came out today and locked front is now under the truck along with OME 850J's. Still a lot left to do but it's coming along.

It's a stout unit, 60lb son was doing pull-ups off the cooler rack. The standard one that it comes with is the Yeti 45 basket now. I suppose they're so common that's easiest to call that the stock unit for Dave's production process. Going to start investigating possible coolers and surf Craigslist for a used Yeti 45. For now I've got a pelican that sort of fits in there and I've got a month or so till my first camping trip/potential appearance at Relic Run to figure it out.

I need some expert advice from anyone that has replaced a brake booster on an FJ80. It started intermittently (about 1x week) and now I need to use both feet to stop the truck. I have 19 mmHg vacuum to the booster and the check valve is good and no leaking brake fluid any where. I bought a new toyota booster on ebay (big $$$) but I want it to last 22 more years like the one I'm replacing. What advice can you give me before I start the replacement. I have the FSM and it talks about a SST that is for adjusting the booster push rod. Do I need this or can it be done without it. Any tips or tricks before I start would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kurt
The SST is just a stick. If you have the FSM, you can make one from a dowel, or pencil. It doesn't have to be high speed, low drag to work. You do need to verify the depth though.

Have you checked the MC?

Maybe the BB on an 80 is different, but on all the other ones I have replaced, I just counted threads, measured to be sure, and put the brake pedal connector back to the same place it was before. Only a couple required additional adjustment and it was minimal.

That'll work too. It's not rocket science.

Ordered a random headlight washer pump for the LS, since I don't use them often I didn't want to foot the $90 difference between this and OEM.

Glad I did just for this sticker on the part. Made my day.

I hear that metallic duct tape works pretty well for keeping those stick-on weights where they belong. Gotta' clean everything up real well before you tape over them. Denatured alcohol prep and then tape 'em down. I'm going to try it on mine. We will see how it goes.
