don't worry about the hyjacking! I love the conversation. sometimes its good to talk about these things. yeah a good running fj55 without gobs of rust is really hard to find. again one day I will get one.Glad everyone was safe and injuries weren’t worse. I escaped with zero injuries but pride and it sent me on quite the cruiser journey after it. I was EXTREMELY lucky.
It was at the sand dunes around Walden CO at the photo shoot for the new FJ Cruiser. -20F. Just had taken my seatbelt off a few minutes before to check on other cruisers, @treerootCO and @PabloCruise as clutch’s were freezing. Hopped back in, was looking at my rear view and caught a small drive on the front which pulled the rear end around. Went into the deeper snow then over she went and stuck hard on the side caving in the roof.
Luckily without my seatbelt I ended up in floorboards squeezed by the roof. Had I had my seatbelt on I probably wouldn’t be here.

Good news, we rolled it over, started it, pushed the roof up and drove it the rest of the day. Even made the FJcruiser brochure somewhere I have it. Sadly parted out on here so lots of people got parts from it.
Terrible quality pic, but I miss that Pig.

Sorry for the highjack! Let’s see some more saltwagon work!
hahah I still need to make a NC meet up but I would be down for a Colorado meet up as well. Some good ‘ol Rocky Mountain Oysters. I live fairly close to Bruce’s but I've never been there. If there’s a Colorado Mud meetup, count me in!
are we NORMAL... Normal is boring. No for real though I met @theglobb and his family through mud and they are wonderful people.better than half the facebook marketplace interactions I've had!

No worries! I actually have a tube left over from when I replaced the oil pan gasket on my 3fe powered fj80 about 4 years ago. But I did buy another tube because I used some of it for the push rod cover gasket and the timing gear cover. Its super nice turning the engine over on the stand just for getting the old gasket off. that was a huge pain last time I did one of these because it was still in the cruiser. Not trying to nitpick - do you have FPIG for the oil pan gasket? I used Toyota Seal Packing 103 FPIG -
I was able to rotate my engine and put it on the block and lay it down that way then again with the pan.

Haha. I have been cranking through pages... Trying to document everything I do. Its pretty fun. Its my first pretty much full take apart build. Luckly I can drive and repair slowly. Thats cool to know where the parts of that fj55 went. I hope parts of my 80 are on other 80s now. IDK what really ever became of it other thank insurance gave me more than I paid for it and I took it.Wow, 44 pages deep in a thread I haven’t seen before!
I will keep the hijack brief, my Pig is wearing the hood and front axle from the @FJBen Pig, aka “Pigtastic”.
it flipping drives me nuts. I really think the postmaster here is on a power trip. sometimes instead of sending it back she hand writes your p.o. box with a red sharpie and then sticks it in your box. I wish she was just doing that but sometimes she just sends it back. Its not like I want my packages to get sent back but some people only ship to a street address. Infact the Christmas gift thing shipped ups and then because a storm they dropped it off at the post office and then the post master returned it to sender.... WTFWhat's up with these new Post Masters out here? Having the same problem, except we've been through 3 in as many years. Each one seems more intent on returning packages vs. holding them for the recipients. It's almost comical, but it's not.
Pertronix was probably the single best upgrade I did. Even better than the JimC carb (with all due respect to Jim, he's a master).
It's because the post office is viewed as a sinecure job that simultaneously puts the recipient in a position of power. It's always been that way AFAIK.What's up with these new Post Masters out here? Just double check the vacuum advance (suck on the hose) when done and make sure internals move - mine didn't the screw that came along was too long. a 1 banana job.
