This looks like the place that the pump will sit. I wonder if I can get that tube flipped up instead of it pointing down and away from the pump.

I don't know man, I thought that nipple was soldered in. That might get expensive, if you mess one up. Maybe look foe a formed U hose, to connect it to.

Man! I have had quite a time with a guy that made some parts for me! Added many weeks of time to my project. :( I have ended up swallowing the parts that were sent and ended up going to a local guy to make my shock hoops. I think that that is the only thing that I will need to get to welding it all up!

I do have some info though if anyone ever needs it. I need a steering shaft so I went with Flaming River- Scout box side measured 36 spline by 13/16(FR1719-3/4ddshaft), Toyota side 36spline by 11/16 (FR1783-3/4dd shaft), my distance from beginning of spline to beginning of spline was 17inches (3/4dd-22inches-FR1850-22). I went ahead and ordered through Summit. A great tech guy named Cody (tech line 330-630-0240) also helped me get a cooler for the system (part# der-12200 form summit). It measures 12 1/4 high by 2 1/2 wide by 3/4 thick, and comes with some hoses and mounts. Total order turned out to be about $250 or so.

I hope I measured these things right! I have been taking pictures of the stuff that I have been doing so soon I will post some up. I love looking at pictures on IH8mud!

Do you all think that I need a slip shaft or do you think that a solid shaft will do the trick? The price difference I was told was substancial.

That slip shaft will help the driver, from getting impaled on the steering column, when in an accident. The column will give some.

Also, makes it easier putting in and taking out.

My opinion, spend the money. I'm doing the same thing.

Well since Scrappdaddy and lil John and numerous others, probably as well, have done it, I guess that I should follow the proper way. I have a new number list from Flaming River- fr1758, fr1856, and fr1783. This is a slip shaft that is 3/4" inside 1" and the universal joints that are appropriate to match up.

You won't be sorry, when you go to put it in. Compress it enough to get it between the splines, then pull into place. Done.

I have all the parts tacked into place and I was thinking that it would be good to cycle the flexing before I welded all together. I was also thinking that it would be best to have the shocks in while I do that.

I have a measurement of 21" from eye to eye while I have 6" between bump stop to axle housing. All while just sitting on its wheels. I have seen others use the 5100 series, but it was suggested that I use the 5125 series. Anyone have any suggestions before I plunge in?!!!

Those are Bilsteins, right. I haven't decided which shock to go with, either. Maybe give them a call and tell what you're doing with it.

I've thought about the rebuildable shocks, so I could change the valving, to get the ride I want. Probably over thinking it.

my old shocks- Is it bad when one pushes the shock piston in and it stays in? I ma gonna have me a new ride feel for sure!

moving ahead

Well finally got some major headway.

I took a bunch of the parts like the shackles, a bunch of nuts and bolts, steering dampner brackests, and an number of clamps all down to a shop where they replated everything with that yellow zinc coating. I got the idea from Scrappdaddt. He used cadnium I think, but I went with the less expensive way for $70 I got all the parts back in two day all shiney-super bling!

Welders are awsome! I wish I were one of them. :frown: Making beautiful welds are something that I wish to get better at. The welds are look horrible, but I think that they are burly. I hope so.

Plated the outside of the frame rail and part of the inside. Sleeved the str box holes. Welded a 45degree bar on the inside as per Pighead and Liljohn. I used square tube instead of round. I hope I got it all in the right place!!! :p

The thing that was holding me (six weeks waiting for the hoops and other things from one guy) up was the shock hoops. As you see I got them, but not from whom I originally ordered. These were made by a guy right here in town. I think they will work great.

Got some more stuff the other day! Greaseable pins, steering shaft parts, and a cooler. The cooler was suggested so I am trying to be a good listener:D

Oh wait. I forgot to show some other pics. The idea was that while I was there...

Por 15 on everything- axles, shields, leafs, everything. I bought a gallon of that stuff awhile ago so I am trying to use it on everything.

WOW! you've been busy. Everything is turning out great. The cooler you put on, is that for the power steering and what model shock did you go with?

Keep up the good work and my welds aren't picture book perfect, either, but I never had one fail.
