Learning my way around pin-striping today to transition from the gray to silver. I think it looks pimp. Had to order some blue I’ll play with too.

Hood. Driver Fender. A pillar. Done.

Moving to the other door and quarter next

Ammonia and water is a typical mixture for removing window tint, along with a single edge razor blade for the glue goo. I de-tinted a '76 F-150 and the tint came off rapidly this way.

I love your paint restoration - I presume you're leaving the decals on?

Absolutely. The decals are what make this a one of a kind 60.

I’m being real careful with the decal
Polishing. They have naturally worn areas that are just part of the story.

Dirty ass hands and such. Faded in places. I am Cleaning as I can without removing the blue but yes they are getting waxed to preserve

Looking great, Nolen.

I remember scraping off the tint on my 1985 when I bought it and will never forget what a whipping it was, but so worth it. I eventually repainted this one and had it for 10 years until I fell hard for FJ40s. It was absolutely immaculate. Silver is a beautiful color on these.

I see different grades of steel wool. What number are you using #0000, #000? When applying the CLR are you going around in circles like on Karate Kids, wax on... wax off...

Underneath, is that the original silver? I've never seen one that dark before! I have only ever seen them look like this one below. 👇

No, looks like this truck was primed from
The bottom of the door up. Stickers laid. Sprayed silver. Sticker covers removed.

Something like that. The roof has primer

The dark gray is not stock but it’s what is below the custom paint and stripe job.

I’m getting the roof painted and will discuss clear coat with him for the whole truck.

Gotta save those decals for sure.

I occasionally get the urge to remove my epic late 80s early 90s decals for a cleaner all white look, then I follow a thread like this and I’m like nope, they are staying:rofl:

Finished up with Mustard 78 and slept in this morning. Builds - 1978 FJ40 Mustard Yellow - almost perfect thread.

I finished up the drivers side. Looks pretty good. In the natural light I can see a few spots I missed. I’m pretty much out all next week so I hope to start in on the other side next weekend.

I’m looking for a drivers side snake blinder.....
