Only on certain applications. Zero chance I would do my 45 in it. This truck had spray paint beige over white. Oil would not last long. Are you a fan of Penetrol now?
I agree. I think I might be at the abrasives or wet sand stage for the hood. Maybe try to smooth what's there into the primer and metal and let it age. Has anyone successfully done this? I know its close to the "fake patina look" process, which isn't what were doing here, but I don't want a painted hood on a patina truck.I don’t see a wax working on that paint situation.
Are those pressure washer marks on the hood? Maybe just finish that job uniformly then oil that baby upI agree. I think I might be at the abrasives or wet sand stage for the hood. It sure looks like it judging by the width of the stripes. The plan is to pressure wash tonight and do just what you said. If not, were breaking out the sand paper. Just got it this weekend, so the stoke is very high and of course, patina preservation is on top of the to-do list. Are those pressure washer marks on the hood? When use CLR in spray bottle, are you diluting the CLR at all? Wash off immediately after each section?
My paint is s***. I need to strip primer on the top once it gets back from getting disc brakes on it next week. Then start with a CLR 0000 steel wool scrub and assess after that.I usually spray it directly and rub with Scotchbrite or Steel Wool. If you have good paint don’t scratch it. Just rub the bad stuff off.
You watch how it’s going to pop. That’s going to look superbMy paint is s***. I need to strip primer on the top once it gets back from getting disc brakes on it next week. Then start with a CLR 0000 steel wool scrub and assess after that.

I used Graffiti remover to take overspray off base Toyota paintWill CLR work to remove old spray paint? Or at least mute it somewhat?
Other suggestions for that specifically?
