Foam for Seats? New
We thought the foam for the seats was going to be OK and usable, based on how they felt. But, once he got the covers off the seat foam was full of surprises, like mice nests and mold. Yuck!

Does anyone have a good recommendation on where to get replacement foam? I know SOR has them, but if someone knows of another source that is not as expensive please let me know.

I redid our boat interior and had to cut foam for cushions and repair some of the old cushions with some new foam in spots. I used 3M super 77 contact adhesive to glue new foam to old foam. I used a cheap electric carving knife to cut the foam. Locally I found a foam and upholstery warehouse that sells a variety of foam in different thickness, sizes and density. You might see if sailrite offers foam too. For cheap foam look in the free section on Craigslist for couches, chairs and such, or someone throwing them away on garbage night and grab the cushions. If it was cheap to ship…but it ain’t….. we bought an acid reflux assistant known as a BEDGE…. It is a wedge shaped hunk of foam in two pieces 80” long but wedge shaped from 1” to 8”. If you glued the wedges in opposite position you have a 9” thick rectangle 6 1/2’ long and over 3’ wide. That where the electric carving knife is valuable and you could carve what you wanted. Check around for foam…there is a flea market guy here that sells blocks of foam rubber and his go to trim tool is the electric carving knife.

As for the acid reflux aide? It’s like sleeping on a cliff and waking up in the middle of the night sliding 1/2 way down the mattress. It’s sitting in the shed taking up space

I've seen guys on car shows like Texas Metal, Bitchin' Rides, and Iron Resurrection using an electric knife to carve and shape foam for upholstery. And I thought about that, but my tremors make me question my ability to do it (and the more active I am, the worse the tremors get). My wife redid our dining table chairs, so I tried to talk her into it and she said "HECK NO!" LOL!

So, I sucked it up and ordered all new foam. 😞

Engine Update New
The engine fired up yesterday! And with the new coil packs, new spark plug wires, and the exhaust headers ceramic coated & baked, I think it looks better! And I remember 30 years ago I bought a pair of Sanderson Jet Hot aluminized ceramic headers for the big block going into my 1934 Coupe, and they guaranteed it would reduce the heat in my engine compartment 20 degrees and increase the horsepower. So, hopefully these being ceramic coated will help reduce the heat in the engine compartment. I thought about putting coil covers on to look like valve covers and putting "TOYOTA" down them, but it looks nice now so I hate to cover the coils & wires.

Seats New
So, even though the foam felt fine, it was discovered that mice & mold had made homes in the seats. So, they were completely stripped, sandblasted, and powder coated & baked to be ready for all new foam and seat coveres:

Me too!!!! Instead of the "cheap, get it running as is and drive it" project that I intended, now it is literally going to be a brand new FJ40. Every bolt & nut (stainless steel), every gasket, seal, rubber piece, window felts, body mounts, everything is new and/improved (like all of the light bulbs big & small being replaced with LED so they will last forever). And with the epoxy coating / sealing it should literally last forever without rusting out again. So in a way, it should be better than new. And only cost probably 10 times what it did new!!! LOL! Probably more than that! 🤣 :rofl:

Could just be the video but not hearing the fuel pump after it fires and fails. The corvette regulator is plumbed the opposite of logic as well.
