Did you hear this engine run when you picked it up?

I’d jump fuel pump to make sure it’s not that- then get a local tuner to look at ECU and go from there.

He had it delivered. No video or proof was provided. I like the pump idea. I’ll give that a shot. Thank you.

That extra pop at the end doesn’t feel ignition related from here. Just spitballing. Painless makes a decent harness that can be had pretty quickly and will have their support.

Yeah, it came with a 6 months warranty, but at that time we had no idea how much hidden rust damage there was so time has flown by while those repairs were made. As was said, he was just trying to see if it would run before time runs out. And I've seen plenty of times on shows like Iron Resurection, Texas Metal, and Bitchin' Rides were they test fire them without the radiator hoses or down pipes on the exhaust to see if they will run before hooking everything else up in case they got a bad engine and it needs to be swapped out.

Also, just an FYI for everyone, the source was not just some guy with 1 engine & transmission for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He and his business partner sell these for a living, have a relationship with a local salvage yard there in the Orlando area and they buy 15 engine / transmission combos at a time. They offer flashing the ECM (and asked me questions like gear ratio and tire size), and they do installations for customers. I would have done that, but the 40 was in a thousand pieces 2 hours away, so that wasn't an option.

If all else fails, I'll pay him to make the 4 hour round trip drive to get it running.
