Driver's Seat New
Reposting this, hoping for some help:

I need the seat bottom or frame & springs for a driver's seat for my 1971 FJ40. I think they were the same from 1962 - August 1972. If you have one that is free of rust holes or cracks please send me a private message.

Thank you!

If I go with seat colors other than black, gray, or coral, will I be the victim of public stoning or caning? Black seats are hotter than a $2 pistol in the summertime to sit on here in Florida.
You do you. Who cares what others think?

I swapped in Black Pro Car seats as they were cheaper than fixing my grey OE seats (probably way more comfortable too) here in Texas and as long as the seats aren't in the direct sun they're fine.

I was going to order the ProCars, but they are out of the adapter brackets that they claim would still allow access to the toolbox under the driver's seat and they didn't expect to have anymore for at least 6 weeks. They are too busy making brackets for Camaros Mustangs. I "hope" I'll need seats before then! If not for that, I would have bought the ProCars vinyl/velour with black and red.

Where in Texas? I was born in Dallas and grew up in East Texas. In 2004 I moved to Phoenix for about 4 years and the guys at work said "We are going to show you what hot is all about." When it hit 110 they said "how does that feel to you?" and I replied "Feels like about 80° to me. I like it! You guys come to Texas where it will hit 110° but with 95+% humidity and the tar under the asphalt roads starts oozing up through the asphalt and when you walk on it you can feel it squish under your feet. You guys don't know what HOT is!" 🤣

I’m in central Texas in a small town called Sunset Valley. Austin is our largest suburb.

Not sure if it helps, but I swapped the OE sliders from my seats straight over to the Pro Cars.

As a kid I lived in Sacramento for a spell, it got up to almost 120 at a point and the news folk were cooking eggs on car hoods and sidewalks…
Uphill…
Both ways…

I had ordered my ProCar seats last September? And the one of brackets arrived about 10 days later. After 6-8 emails with customer service they did send the driver side seat bracket… hats off to Summit Racing. Very nice to work with . The problem there is that while waiting, I had made my own mounting brackets and they came out great.

I didn’t think about swapping the original seat mounting brackets so I welded up a mounting frame for the garage and made a small 2 seater Land Cruiser sofa. I thank @1911 for stating the obvious… despite the fact they were re-covered they were still old foam. Cosmetically great, comfortably dead.

Ok….did you just say velour
We may have looked the other way on the color but now you are really pushing with velour.

LOL, I think velour is a fancy word for cloth. If they just said vinyl & cloth they would probably have to sell them for $100 less. The image on the website looked good, especially for a red FJ40:

Throttle Control Knob? New
Looking at images of an owner's manual for an early FJ40 (like my 1971 with a build date of December 1970) there is a Choke pull knob, which I totally get. But there is also a "Throttle Control" knob. Is that an early method of cruise control? Maybe push the gas pedal to a certain point and then pull that knob and it holds the throttle at that level???

Last of the metal work on the tub. New
🤞 Fingers crossed, hopefully he has completed the last of the metal work on the tub.

Fixed the door catches. Both had the backs broke out. An angle piece is inside that rail. It catches the bumper as the doors opened. 3/16 pieces vs the stock thickness should help keep it from happening again:

Interior New
Well, I wrestled internally if I should do gray, black, or coral for the seat colors. After a massive amount of overanalyzing I decided on the gray. Then, the next day I got someone on the phone and canceled that order, and placed a new order. Turns out that if you provide the material, Cruiser Corps will make the seat covers in whatever you like. So... that's what I decided to do, and for all the haters & purist, the seats will not be black, gray, or coral. But I'm going to like it better, it won't be as hot, and if it's my butt sitting on it and my butt paying for it, then I'm going for it. LOL! I'll post photos when they are done. 👍

What material did you go with? I actually just asked them about doing cloth bottom and back with charcoal vinyl on the sides.
