I am new to FJ40 comment on this auction are mix. I heard ih8mud would be the best place for me to find out if this Fj40 I am buying is worthy! Please help.

I would pass on it for that price,
they did all that work and it still has a 3 speed trans
both rear quarters look like it has a skin screwed to the body
the rear sill isn't blended with the body
pay that price and it doesn't have a rear license plate mount
etc

The sides may be budbult 3/16” sides .... but... screwed on is odd

Wonder what’s under?

If the rears were cut out and screwed on instead of properly welding them on or just layer over the top of the rear tub

Seems like it is layered as there are no screws holding the floor then

If it’s just layered I would not drive in any weather.... moisture will get in there and be death to it

It looks good from some angles but the up close pics look like it is poorly and cheaply built. One bumperette is welded the other is bolted. The rear axle is not installed correctly and the tire will smash the quarter panel on the first big bump. The bedliner looks like it's very thin. I question of that electric fan will really keep the motor cool. Someone used a lot of black spray paint. Basically whoever built it did so to make it look great to the average Joe that doesn't know what they are looking at to make a quick buck and bring in more money than its worth. The tires and wheels, new seats, fresh paint, EFI screen, and pics at the right angles make it look great and draw most people's attention. It's the details you have to look at though. I would price that truck at 10 to 15k.

Dude, it's your money. Personally, I would listen to the collective soul and walk away. Just don't come back on and complain about this and that once you buy it and see it in person.

Walk away? RUN AWAY...... Look at the stuff that's not been done or done badly. There's a lot of lipstick on that pig and probably a lot of bondo too. Original rear 1/4's are covered, V8 w/a 3speed, if you look between the spokes of the frt rims, it looks like an aftermarket disc brake conversion instead of using stk Toyota parts. Rear axle is moved back and will probably tear up the rear of the 1/4 panel opening when the suspension is flexed. No headliner, old chipped up paint along with new blk paint on inside. The dash is hacked and done poorly, painted dash pads. It seems in every pic you can find issues.

Not that it might not go ‘fast’, but that thing is ’all show and no go’.
