All that work and couldn't be bothered to install the rear reflectors and side markers.

that is crazy money for that first one.....walk away and sleep well knowing that you didn't get screwed dry.

the second one isnt much better. 20k dollars and it doesnt even come a matching spare tire... it also doesnt have 1976 rear doors.
the front fenders look squirrelly as well.
i would avoid a v8 like the plague, for your first crusier, those swaps can be well done or complete train wrecks, seeing as how these two cruisers have been listed from flippers, id lean far to train wreck side on both.

Not sure if this says much but that guys been trying to sell that for a long time. I think I saw it when I was looking for mine last October

An example for what you could have gotten instead of the above link. He lowered it to 19k and it sold fast.

My suggestion is to reread post 18 in this thread.

You certainly do not have to buy from a MUD member...but you’ve got a much better chance of dealing with a person that knows what the Sam Hell he’s talking about, and not just trying to flip something.

I don’t know either of those guys in post 18...but one of them has been around since 2006. At least you can see his ‘track record’.

But why did uou keep bidding after the 27K?

update FJ Family! Bought this instead for $10,000. I want to swap the motor/trans/suspension on it. Could you guys tell me what my best options would be if I want to daily this. Want it to drive smooth at 60-80mph.

1979 4speed stock motor with 52k stock miles on it the motor is running just fine and no leaks. Body has rust here and there. U.S model.

Didn't read this thread yet, In the first low res photo I noticed:
heater duct missing, goofy ghetto fabbed OEM clamshell over aftermarket steering wheel, lower dash pad appears to have been coated (to cover cracks?), driver door limiter missing, very low quality inner roof restoration(splattered tar),

muffler placement looks odd, rear quarter panel work looks craptastic, no locking fuel fill door, lots of sag in the rear for 30 grand, reverse light missing, rear license plate holder and light assembly missing, rear reflectors missing, right front hood hold down is missing the inner rubber protection pad, not 73 front turn indicators, trim rings on apron mounted side markers should be chrome

both front door appears to have missing window channel frame screws(stripped when removed?), the often missing paddle handle covers are missing, heater hose firewall grommet MIA, passenger door limiter missing

Maybe a $6-$10k resto.

I LOVE Land Cruisers. I also read BaT everyday with my coffee. I didn’t even bother to look at it because of the main picture. Your money would be better spent else where.

29k doesn’t buy you a steering stabilizer?? Be glad you came to mud for help. There are good people around here.

Did you buy it from just pictures?
The later models use thinner sheet metal and seem to rust out a lot faster. EASY to slather Bondo over the rust and paint. For me, the pics you have shared are not enough to consider it a purchase candidate.

Congrats on your new cruiser. Now you have an $18,000 slush fund to make it how you want it. Time to start a 79 build thread. You could incorporate the term "hair-trigger" in the build title so we will remember this day:cheers:

Good one...hair trigger. It fits.🎯
