I hadn't read this thread in a few weeks. Looks great. Are you being ambitious like Scraps with the 160 mph gauge?

To quote a fellow member. There's a reason! LOL

Drive shafts Arrived!

Unfortunately the front wont work. CV joint portion is too large in diameter. Even if I notch my transmission pan like @Megadoomer, I'd have to leave the rear two bolts out and then I think it would still rub if it would turn at all.

Im wondering if there's a CV which will use 1210 joints vs 1310 joints and still bolt to the Toyota transfer case

Dang. I looked back to see what you were using. Is it an LS with 4L60 and a Toyota t-case? I might have faired better because I have an Np205. I think the drive shaft comes out further to the passenger side or lower.

I didn't dig into CV choices so I have no idea what would work.

If your angles are good why do you need a CV?

When I did the cut and turn on the front axles I planned for a CV, so the angles aren't good. Ill look to see if the wedges have will get me there and then I'll have new custom drive shaft with no home. I hate wasting $400.

Unless the angles are way out or you plan to run full time 4X4 I would just build a shaft without a CV and see if you can sell that one to recoup some of your cost.

With all the builds going on right now someone might get lucky and need a shaft that length.

Yep. Waiting to hear back from Tom Woods on options. I have a shaft I scabbed together to roll in an out of the garage so I can cut it down if needed and lament about the money spent.

just flip it for the time being and check clearances. I agree if your angle isn't crazy run a normal shaft.

Anyone install the rear window channel from Slocruisers? I went to install the rear glass and can't get it in the channels without significant force. So much force that body weight leaning against the window moves the window about 1/4 x1/2 inch.

I'm not sure what the issue is. Window Chanel too thick? I can insert the window without the chsnel but theres not much room. I've never had the glass in and the glass came from another 55 that was one year older.

It looks like I can rework the channel rails with a little cutting and welding to get a little more width to support the window but I'm not sure I should go that route if I'm missing something.

@slowcuiser Have your heard of this before?

Meanwhile about all I managed to get done was creating a mount for the LED license plate light.

I had a call from Tom Woods about my CV drive shaft that I'm not sure will work. Great people to work with. They offered to machine down the H-joint and rebalance the drive shaft if thats what it takes. We also discussed a smaller CV with 1210 universal joints and a Ford Bronco bolt pattern 2.5 x 2.5. They recommended sending my T-case flange with the drive shaft and they'll drill my flange and make any necessary hub spacer. I need to crawl around and see which direction to go.

Today was rear bumper day. All ended well but I had some rework because I didn't measure twice before cutting. 🤓

Nine years after I bought these things, I finally install them. I also got it tagged on Friday so once I find a helper to install the windshield, I'm ready to get it out for a spin. ( after I buy it some new shoes )
