what about going with an aluminum tank? i bought two cheap tanks on Amazon 140 each drilled i think 6 holes in the what would become the center wall to create a baffle. welded them together then added a filler neck to the side in the correct spot and built a simple hanger bracket to go in original frame holes. I am running a tbi 350 but you could plug the return line inlet. i think all said and done under $500 for 34 gallon tank. not saying its the best route but it beats the 2k for the off the shelf long range tank. i dropped my tank to many times to try and fix leaks in it and then the pickup line plugged and i was done.

Not really wanting to do that. I have a good tank. Just going to have to cut it open it seems.

Aight.

I got the pick up tube out and the clog is in the bottom 4”

So I just got the good tube out of the old tank.

None of my local auto parts has submersible 5/16” hose so I ordered some on Amazon. They say tomorrow. Sunday here is always hit and miss.

Will have to get the Wizard out to weld it up after I get the line hooked together

A small cut of electricians fish tape in a drill would clear a lot of crap in a hurry

People think I am a mechanic. I am not. I put new parts on old s*** and make the old s*** better.

This is bringing up bad memories with the tank issues I had with my 1969. We all know you will get this sorted plus sorry to say we like the problems as long as you post with pictures and we can vicariously live through you. My secret dream is to drive one of my cruisers to Tilda Bogue, camp in your field, and help you put new parts on old land cruisers!! LOL

Glamor shots and a fresh tank full of gas.

I tuned the Sniper, added an overflow bottle from Matt and put a few miles on it.

When I got to the gas station I had a little pressure in the tank. There was only 4 gallons in it so that’s to be expected.

After the ride home I checked it and there was no pressure.

What’s the worst that could happen???

A 4 hour tank swap could turn into a 2 day ordeal that I had to drive to my welders house 45 minutes away twice because he is so damn slow. My football team could lose. I could be late for dinner with my daughter.

This was actually a best case scenario touching this thing to be honest.
