I believe I did, but quickly moved to 3.73s.
We’ve basically got the same setup, what made you make the change? I’d say my weak spot is 4th gear at about 40 mph. It’s topping 3rd out and feels a tad to low for 4th. I’m wondering if going with 3.73 would change that?

RPMs were too high on the highway.

For me, nv4500, 3.73 gears and 315/75r17 tires are a perfect combo. I cruise on the highway between 75-80mph most of the time, which is ~2200rpm IIRC. I get 19.5mpg doing that, and can do it for hours on end.

For lower speeds, I don't pay attention enough. If the engine is lugging in one gear, but screaming in another, I speed up or slow down to get more comfortable. Decide what speed matters most to you, and use that to decide on gears.

What ever happened to the swampers and hummer bead locks? Sorry I don't feel like looking through all 187 pages.

What do you mean what happened? They're my wheeling tires, I only run them when wheeling.

EDIT: Looking back, i see what you mean now, why didn't i use them at logan's run, the event a little up on this page. Long story, but suffice it to say that my tow rig was down, meaning I had to drive to that event, meaning I couldn't run my wheeling tires.

Since you don't feel like looking back a few pages, here's a pic from GSMTR 2019:

So few updates.

Transmission's 4th gear synchros are still ****ed. 3rd gear synchros are starting to show wear. Still driving her, just being careful. I plan to pull her apart soon. Been working on other junk, namely my tow rig, and a new shed I'm close to finished with.

In the meantime, I bought a new-to-me DS front door for $200 for an upcoming rust repair/paint project. On my way back from picking the door up, alternator decided to stop charging. Bummer.

Threw a new $30 internal regulator at it and she's good to go again. Cleaned up some wiring a bit, and sent it.

I love this truck.

Old reg on top. Seems it delaminated from the heatsink and died. Lasted ~5 years. I'm happy with that.

They really don't. The problem is overly sensitive people driving a heavy duty truck transmission, expecting it to feel like a civic :flipoff2:

How is that ecobox holding up?

How is that ecobox holding up?

No issues with the ecobox. Have been wheeling at least once since the synchros went out, and the ecobox is still purring away. The ecobox and transmission do not share fluid, so I trust the ecobox will continue to be fine.

Have you heard about the guys running into issues with fluid temp in the the Cruiser Blackbox’s when running on the highway?

Well I’m slowly getting the nv4500 ready for swap. But debating now on which route to take: 4.56 in gears or sell dodge 205 Nd buy gm205 w/ecobox or magnum box. Trying to find someone who uses magnum box(not the condoms) since they have direct bolt in for 29spline

Nope. What's the symptom? I've had many highway miles since the swap, I haven't noticed any issues or egregious fluid leaks.

Ecobox is a bolt-in with the 29 spline output NV4500 if you buy the 29 spline NP241 input gear from Power Driven Diesel.

So would output also be 29 spline or do I need a different 205TC?

Do some research my man. The NP205 you have, if it has the circular bolt pattern, will likely bolt right up to the ecobox. The input shaft of the 205 can be changed if need be, as can the output of the ecobox. Find a combo that works.

Will do my friend, I’m just being a lazy bum and taking a shortcut by picking your brain haha 😂

Whats the NV4500 feel like when the synchros are going bad?

Doesn't feel any different, aside from the horrific grinding that happens when you try to shift into the bad gear(s) without rev matching.

I'm curious about the symptoms also. I didn't have a temp gauge on the ecobox, but never noticed anything out of sorts when driving around town (no changes in fluid levels and such). GLTHFJ60 has probably five or ten times the mileage I had on it by now, and I think he'd definitely notice something out of sorts.
"Edit, a quick google search shows only this thread as a result for blackbox/ecobox/nwf underdrive overheating. But, there was a comment in the ecobox thread on pirate that seemed to answer the heat question definitively."

^^ Good callout. Correct, no issues to report from my end, and I certainly haven't changed the fluid every oil change, lol.

Have probably put 7000 miles on the setup so far, maybe more. July of 2018 is when I put it in, so it may be closer to 10,000.

Well that didn't last long. Alt isn't charging again as of this morning. Brushes looked pretty worn and there was some radial play in the bearings, so I'm buying a new denso alt and hoping that's it. Wiring still checks out.

Iirc this alt has been on the truck for 7 years or so, so I guess I'm not that upset.
