I've had a couple of almost twin 1963 FJ45 fixed tops stored for several years. Drug them out recently, and I'm putting one back stock and I'll be setting it free later this year. The other truck which I always though was a whole lot rougher and rustier actually has turned out to be very solid.
My initial plan was to build it our rat rod style using things around the shop and powering it with something to piss off the purists (turbo LS, M57, Turbo 1UZ, etc) and build it on 1 tons to drive back and forth to car shows and maybe some trails here and there.
Then I decided to build it in a fashion that would work for something like Ultimate Adventure with quite a few more road miles.
Now that I've messed with it some (Power steering, installed later model firewall, front disk axle, rear fullfloater) and realized its pretty rust free I'm quite tempted to just throw a 2F in it and get it driving and possibly let it go as well.
Anyone have feedback or suggestions? I know if I do build it cab space will be scarce, but I've already lowered the steering wheel and was planning on low profile suspension seats.

Do what makes you happy and who cares what we think. Definitely bring us along for the ride though! My two favorite modded 45s are @Tank5 and @RustyNailJustin

If I had a fixed top 45 like that I would consider stretching the cab behind the B post about 10-12 inches maybe add a corner window or smaller side window. Stretch the chassis out to 112-114 inches. Probably 2uz, 5 speed transmission. Add a set of 70 series axles if you can find them or modified narrowed 80 if not. I would consider a vintage style utility box for the bed if I could find them or modified right style. I had a really cool box on a project I sold before completing. It would good with a fixed too cab.

Do what ever makes you happy though. Your truck your build, just let us follow along.

Yep...thats the bed. The cream puff 63 now has a matching original paint bed and is going together as an original truck. Wish I could find matching fenders, but I had some painted and they've been laying outside for about 10 years.

That’s an early fixed top without the windshield hinges. I wouldn’t worry about what the purists say…

Another build thread I dig is @whitey45 ’s the "zebranator's" resurection is awn!!!!! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/the-zebranators-resurection-is-awn.161465/ granted it’s not a SWB…well not anymore.

What’s the details on the tan 45 in the background?

I’ll definitely be following along!
Thats just another project, getting some cleanup and wiring repair and then going on the market probably. Its a SA HJ45

In on this one!
