Luke - how is the Halo in the Quad set up coming along? Also, any luck with the Daytime running lights?

I have two sets of lights I'm finishing for a few guys..and then I'll have time to finish the Quad setup with the Halo as a DRL

I've been following this, but am really confused about where the pigtail coming out of the side of the low beam housing (I drilled the hole) connects?
By pigtail are we talking the light gauge twin wire harness that we connect to the morimoto shutter solenoid? If so then it has a 9005 male connector terminated to it and it plugs into one side of the splitter Y - the other leg of the splitter goes to the high beam bulb and the Y input female connector goes to the vehicle side high beam harness connector. You’re connecting the morimoto solenoid in parallel with the high beam bulb because you want the morimoto solenoid shutter to be energized when your high beam is switch on so the cutoff shield is flipped out of the morimoto’s light beam.

This might sound really dumb, but could someone post a link to how they wired their lights?

Where did you guys mount your ballast?

@PADDO has the right answer. Starting from the picture below of the install guide. I used HD Velcro and mounted the ballast in the inner fender area behind the side maker light

@PADDO and @Luke111 took care of your question. I just finished my lights a couple days ago and I also mounted the ballasts inside the fender with velcro.

The picture shows you where I mounted the HD relay. I removed the battery first, drilled a hole at the bottom right corner and screwed the relay in place

sorry, can you update the site or the first post here if the brackets are sold in pairs or what? i ended up picking up another LX and am trying to decide if i want to fool with this again or just buy your brackets, it's not really clear if it's 90 a side or for the set.

You can order them on my website www.LBBuiltWerks.com and they are sold as a pair

I'm in for the d2s kit if you can find a way to get it laser cut. Trimming it and making it look good is intimidating me. How much better is the d2s than the H1?

I'm dropping off a few shrouds Monday for this company to try and cut them... other option is I could build them for you. Is the D2S better? Yes they are but the Mini H1 is a big improvement over the stock lights. I'm hopping to know by the end of the week and of course but the real question is cost....

Ok, last question! These don’t lock together. Anyone cut off the stock connector and replace it?

Thanks for all the help! I had no idea how little I knew about lighting...

Which is positive on the stock harness?

People reading this. I’ve never been an electrical person. This thread has made it possible for me to do this conversion.

Awesome vendor supporting idiots like me!

You mention about 2/3 through the thread that this may be one-and-done.. is that still the case? I don't own a 100 yet but a LX470 is likely and I don't want to miss out on this if they will turn into unobtanium.

Also, awesome product. Keep up the great work.

Thanks

At this time I’m on my second round of brackets......and staying busy retrofitting new LX headlights. I’m also finishing a set of 100 series headlights and a set for a local FJ Cruiser.

So in the little down time i have I’ve been working on a new quad setup in a quest to figure a few things out..
To start off I de-chromed a pair of new LX housing. Someone in this thread mentioned that Easy-off oven cleaner could be used to remove chrome so I tried it.....sprayed and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and it dissolved the chrome.....rinsed and everything was ready for paint.
I spoke earlier about using a Halo wired as a daytime running light and mounted one on the Mini Gatling Gun shroud and it looked great.. I had previously ordered a 100mm halo thinking it would cover and mistakes in opening up the shroud for those wanting to run the D2S and it was to big so last week I ordered a 90mm and it works perfectly. For grins I installed some Demon Eyes in the Mini H1 and can control the color with an app
The halos are switchbacks and come with a extra wire that can be spliced into the turn signal so the halos will turn Amber and blink

I had Lou make me up a set of lights a while ago, and finally got around to installing them. I won't go into the install process, as that's fairly well documented, but I will say that it took me about 2.5 hours from start/finish, including making an adapter cable to use between the OEM headlight connector to the 9005/9006 plug that the Morimoto setup comes with.

At first, I thought about taking pictures outside, but I wanted something more controlled. My parking garage is dim and consistent, so I just parked at one end of the garage, and pointed the car to the other end. I left the camera in manual mode and all settings weren't touch between photos. Anyway, onto the pictures!

The old setup: headlights are Philips X-treme Vision H1, while the high beams are Philips X-treme Vision 9005:

Now the new setup. The high beams carried over, not that you can tell with the MASSIVE INCREASE IN LIGHT OUTPUT.

The install guide has a few video links that cover opening and resealing the lights and make sure to check out this page for a few tips on JB welding bolts and nuts.
