I'm going to buy these. Nice little bracket.

I installed HIDs in my e36 about 12 yrs ago, haha. One of the best mods I ever did to that car.

Gotta ask though, does the completed headlight look like the one in the photo on the first page? Is the light shroud and surround totally eliminated? It looks kinda funny... But it will be worth the extra light!

Also:
- Are the brackets on your website sold in pairs?
- What projectors are most people running these days?

I actually have some original TSX projectors sitting around in my garage from a retrofit I never ended up doing. Maybe I will use those. Will they fit?

As stated..when the retrofit is completed the lights look and operate like stock light. The brackets are sold in pairs and are designed to mount either the Morimoto Mini H1 or the Morimoto D2S which is the larger projector.. I have not tested and will not design a bracket for the TSX... the cost and time are not worth it.

I’ve used the D2S in every set I’ve built with the exception of one pair but it does require you to open up the shroud to 3 inches with a Dremel which I won’t say i’ve mastered and i’m still considering having a jig made but I’m pretty good at opening them up using the Dremel Shaft Flex.

So the plug and play headlights I build have the D2S and the DIY most are using the Mini H1
You should read the entire thread it will cover most of your questions or give me a call.

Here’s a set of finish quad lights which have a additional headlight in the high beam location and a short video on opening the shroud.

Thank you for the detailed response.

As much as I dislike posting questions for answers I can obtain by searching and reading threads, my parts list for this vehicle is getting very long and reading extremely long threads for info is starting to take up too much of my non-work time, lol... So I'm relying more on vendors for info when applicable. I appreciate you taking the time to help!

I'll definitely be ordering these. I'm really glad you produce them. I can tell it will make a swap very easy!

@Luke111 I've had your brackets and all the goodies from TRS in my garage for months now, but I've been afraid to get it done because there's no comprehensive guide that includes the whole process, from soup-to-nuts. Normally, I wouldn't whine about that but for those of us who daily our 100s and have limited time to complete a project, hitting a snag and having no headlights could be a major issue. Is there any chance of having a full install documented (either by you or a fellow member)?

Heh... I am in the same boat.

Hey guys I am not trying to be pedantic, but what is missing? When I scrolled through the DIY he posted, it seems pretty comprehensive. I am about to order these as well, curious what snags you think could arise.

@Luke111 Any pics of those projectors you painted black installed on an LX?

Anyone have any opinions on mini h1 vs mini ds2? Obviously the h1 is easier, but I am not fond of the idea that nobody else makes the bulb size other than morimoto. Seems to me this could be a big deal 10 yrs down the road. Anyone else think this or am I being overly concerned?

The biggest "problem" is that all the information needed to do this project is spread between the 29 pages of this thread, the installation guide (which just covers the brackets and some of the wiring), the headlight removal thread, and the Morimoto guides.

It would be nice to have everything you need to know consolidated in one place or in one PDF. But I am lazy.

I ordered my parts a while back based on one of several lists on this thread, but have since seen other lists and items that are different. So I don't even fully know if I have everything I need. I suspect what will happen is that I will start this project, find out I am missing something that wasn't on the list I ordered off of and will have about a week's delay waiting for new parts to come in. And I suspect there will be lots of digging through the 29 pages here and asking questions once it all starts.

The install Guide is pretty detailed.

HID MINI H1 BRACKET AND PROJECTOR INSTALL GUIDE

Heh... I am in the same boat.

I'll build you a brand new set so there's no down time and you'll have the D2S Projector

It seems scary doing it on your daily driver but the guide is missing nothing and its very straight forward. I had no issues at all.

@Luke111 any insight into the above?

The install Guide is pretty detailed.

I expected this response and, frankly, I was afraid of even requesting more information because of it. The thing that tipped the balance for me was the fact that I just revisited this thread and saw info and pics about JB welding some nuts to the bracket that is nowhere to be found in the install thread, which makes me wonder what else I might be missing in the process.

If I can be even more frank, I'm not requesting to be spoon-fed on a free mod that some kind soul posted for the benefit of all. Lou's business is for-profit and I support it with my dollars. I think I have the right to share some honest feedback.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I will revise the guide to include the different mounting techniques... and include how to improve rotational adjustments.
You indicated this was your daily driver.... you should give yourself a couple of days to complete the retrofit.. Installing the harness beforehand will save you some time and I'm available anytime to answer questions and walk you through any part of the process you might have difficulty with. You might even consider buying new housing to retrofit, that way your truck would be down for only a few hours

I just updated the install guide.... the tips and revisions start on page 2 ... I did this on the fly so if there's something in this thread that you think should be added....let me know

Hey Luke, I was going to call/text you but maybe everyone can benefit from this. Do you recommend a relay wiring harness for this retrofit?

Thanks!

You need a relay to adequately power the ballasts and protect the factory wiring harness.
Thanks bud.

The last retro I did was probably 10 yrs ago, and I recall it being better but wasn't needed. Thanks for catching me up haha!

Remove center valence fasteners, pull valence forward to disengage clips.

I need help. I have removed the top center valence fasteners and have tried to pull the valence "forward to disengage the clips." But it seems like no matter how hard I pull, the center valence is not coming out. The yellow fasteners (Toyota Part # 90467-09197) Just won't budge.

How much strength is required? I have already tried at least 50 lbs of pressure to pull it out but it is not budging. I am worried if I pull harder, I will break something.

Any tips?

As of right now, I can't get the trim pieces off so I can't get the headlights out.
