Working through a MicroD2S install right now - the Morimoto XB35 igniter hangs out the back by about an inch. In order to retain a water proof/resistant housing, I designed and 3D printed some custom tail caps out of ABS. These twist-lock and use the factory o-ring, and are designed to work perfectly with the grommet that comes on the XB35 wiring. Super happy with how they came out!

It's great to see creative additions,

That cap works well, I've used that same cap. You should have use JB Weld on the bolt heads prior to installing, which will allow you to tighten the nuts from the front when making your adjustments and leveling the cut off. After adjusting, remove the headlights and seal them up . Small observation.

Ahh yes. I’ve had to buy new butyl and redo it the right way but totally worth it. The nuts are now glued and adjusted correctly.
Added a layer of laminx and a whole custom harness utilizing this free fuse placement on the battery connection I believe all US 100 series don’t utilize this open area. Fully integrated system and fully sustainable retrofit.
No flicker and has been quite reliable. I have also did the high beam mod to have access to
More light.

The finish product definitely modernizes this 25yo rig. Thank you Luke for supplying demand. It’s been a year in the making from being out of stock for the brackets and finding headlights with the Lexus green tint. The tint and D2s combined with Morimotos micro and their AR coating make the eyes look like crystals on or off. I personally believe no led can replicate the effect of D2S in this combo. I also have glass lenses and bulbs are ~3000k

Can anyone speak to the longevity of the Morimoto kit? I once had an HID kit for a Forester that went bad after maybe a year or so of use. May have been electrical gremlins in the car, to be fair. Really into this conversion, just want to make sure it'll be good for the long haul.

I’ve had no problems with micro d2s kit. Make sure you use quality wiring harness though. I’m happy with the high quality harness made by @jerryb.

Just wanted to chime in and say the bracket made it absolutely easy to retrofit. Easy to aim and they are dead even afterwards.

I did not use any sealant when I resealed them headlights, I just heated up whatever was used in the stock housing and pressed them lens and housing together and haven’t had any moisture issue in 3 years. I also hooked the HID connector directly to the oem harness. No issues there either, I had flickering issues when I used a relay so I ditched that and connected directly to the stock connector.
How easy was this to do? I’ve got everything sitting in a box to do the retrofit but I didn’t want to have to cut the cut and rewire the connector cable which is what the tutorial seemed to imply. Any pics of how you went about avoiding that? I want to maintain the OEM harness connector setup in case I sale my LX down the road.

You can keep your OEM harness intact. You simply cut the 9006 OEM input connector on the HD harness and replace it with your factory connector on the back of one of your headlights. You can always call me for more clarification 703-371-8494

Installed Morimoto Mini H1 7.0 projectors using Lou's brackets into my '05 LX this afternoon. Very straightforward process and everything bolted up with no major fabrication required. Took me 1.5 hours for the first light, 1 hour for the second. I used Morimoto Retro Rubber butyl and TRS's MoriHolder bulb holders, both highly recommended and very inexpensive.

I used a heat gun for the first lens as I was worried I'd destroy my Lamin-X film in the oven. It worked. The second one I put in the oven at 200F for 20 mins and the film was fine, much easier to pry off lens.

I'm going to create a brief DIY for headlamp removal.

Lighting performance is literally a night & day difference from OEM halogens. I used a 9005 splitter from TRS to activate the high beam solenoid.

My advice is just do it, you'll regret not doing it sooner. Buy Lou's brackets and the above noted accessories from TRS to do it right and make it easy.

@vishmuzty Thank you for your post from years back. Am now in the same predicament (2006 LX470 with brand new OEM light housings). Questions:
- I also have the protective film on, do you recommend using heat gun to remove the lens or the oven bake at 200ºF for 20 minutes and all is still fine?
- Are you still happy with the Mini H1 7.0 (I am looking at the Mini H1 8.0)?
- Are you still using the stock high beam or have you also changed that to something different. I'd love to do the Lou's quad but wouldn't trust myself with the mod needed for the reflector bowl?
Thanks for your time.

I upgrade my headlights using the Philips H1 LED and I was blown by the result. Highly recommend it. I bought it directly from the amazon in UK and I couldn't be happier.

This would be shocking, I've tried many Amazon LEDs (Sealight, Auxito, etc.) with 24 LED elements per bulb and none could give me anything even close - dark spots and blurry cutoff. Are you still happy with the result? I'd love to see pictures of these lights projected up against the wall at 25 feet away if you could share. Thanks.

For those who are looking to upgrade with the Morimoto Mini H1 projector, TRS is on back order for the projector but will be shipping version 9 (Morimoto Mini H1 9.0) some time in mid-Dec. 2025 - supposedly better lens, better coating, etc. How do I know? Placed my order yesterday and followed up in a real time conversation with TRS Sales today (Oct. 30, 2025) and was informed as such.
@Luke111 - you are our hero, a true gentleman who's always ready to offer help/advices and call it as you see it. Thank you!
