Getting ready to tackle this retrofit. Are there any non OEM sources out there for NEW glass headlight assemblies? Just saw these on ebay and am thinking about taking a chance on them. My plastic '03 lenses are pretty rough and I don't want to spend the time and money putting nice new HIDS in yellowed, old lenses. At $570 shipped for the pair, still cheaper than one new OEM assembly.

Save your money, I purchased a set early on in this project and I'd have to build new brackets to fit.. and the inside adjusters attach differently and were very loose. I can send you retrofitted new OEM lights with the Mini H1....plug and play for $1350 or the D2S 4.0 for $1520 plus shipping with 55W ballast. Turn around time would be 2 weeks.

I bought a pair of OEM off ebay for 373.00 each light

My old ones have cracked brackets - I think the three of the 4 glass lenses are good as well as the chrome reflector thingies. These are available to anyone interested , recieved my LB brackets today just waiting until Saturday to bake the glass off.

Glass OEM Headlights are available

Some of you have asked about glass lens OEM headlights and I assumed they were no longer available, I was wrong. I had my parts guy check and there's a different part number for model years 1998-2002 .....so I ordered one yesterday and drove in this morning to check it out...and sure enough... it's glass. So 2003-2007 have plastic lenses and also have a slight green tint in the shroud. I plan on selling the OEM Housings on my site as soon as i work out the pricing which will be much less then retail

Can you clarify if the 03-07 model yrs can accept the 98-02 glass? Or does the glass headlight only work for 98-02.

I'm going to say yes considering there was no change to the body/frame but I can confirm that in a few days when I test fit them in my 2006

Awesome. I went through a decent hunt replacing one of mine because I really wanted glass and thought they'd been superceded by plastic across the board.

Great work, Lou! I applaud your ingenuity and effort.

Now to decide what package to go with. I see benefits to each from ease of installation (cutting vs wiring) to light quality, etc.

In the meantime I have a couple basic questions.

First, with these bi-xenon or bi-led projectors, what happens to the original high beams? Are they still used for extra output?

Second, I've tried to follow the text installation guides I've found, but does anyone know of a DIY write-up that someone has done specifically for our vehicles that really shows the whole process for an HID retrofit? Like how the various parts were routed and secured, etc? I'm not totally sure I understand just how much of a job and clutter it will be, especially when considering the simpler M-LED approach.

Can't wait for the day I can finally enjoying night driving in my LX!

Yes; when you place your order it should include a high beam spiltter which connects the projector and the OEM high beam to the OEM high beam connector

I put together a very specific guide to install these brackets and projectors into the LX470 if you look below you’ll find links in my signature to my website and the installation guide which is pretty specific and as far as installing the MLED the only thing that makes it simpler is it doesn’t require you to run a wiring harness but you still have to trim the shroud and open it up to 3 inches to allow the projector to fit.
The Mini H1 is the easiest projector to install

Brought home a pair of the glass lens headlights which will receive a Quad setup for a fellow Mudder and from his own research decided to run the D2S 4.0 and the Mini H1 and sent me this text for his ballast and bulb setup
Lou. Did a little additional reading last night and if it's not too late I would like to go with 35w ballasts for the main headlights, with Osram 66240 NightBreaker bulbs. Highbeam ballasts can stay 55w with morimoto 5500k bulbs.
Here’s another video to keep you guys motivated to retrofit your lights.
My setup D2S 4.0 with the Mini H1’s turned off

I just want to say thanks, I hated driving my LX at night felt like I had to run on high beams to see. While the process is a bit time consuming , I am so happy with the results.

@Luke111 Any update on the all glass option?

They’ll be listed Monday afternoon.... working out shipping...It will most likely require separate PayPal transactions via PM based on zip codes until I load a shipped calculator on my website.

How'd the D2S bracket fit luke??

They fit nicely... but i'm trimming each pair just a bit to allow a little more rotational adjustment. So I'll post them for sale tomorrow
