We did about 300mi towing a 6000# trailer and had no issues with either drone or heat. Average elevation was around 6000' and outside air temps varied from 65-75 degrees. I was just slightly concerned that the angle of the tip would heat the DS...
Congrats to our two winners, @hb848 and @kennyao30.
@hb848 please contact @turbo8 via PM with your preferred color.
@kennyao30 I'll be reaching out shortly via PM to get your shipping info for the lightly used black set.
Thanks again to...
Update… squeaks fixed!! I installed neoprene rubber strips in between the plates that mount to the frame and the frame… the ones with the u-bolts…
The Neoprene strips were 3” wide and 1/8” thick. I would’ve gone thicker but I wasn’t paying...
I'm confused. You said after an evac, it wouldn't take a charge (which indicates major leak or compressor problem...did it hold vacuum?), yet it blows cold on one side? If the system was evacuated and not charged...there should not be ANY cold...
Mark me IN too. Haha jk
This is awesome that you're doing this @Tex68w
I'll match your contribution, so pick 2 winners. 1st person can have their choice of color then you can send the black set to the runner up.
Since so many people are...
I just swapped out some OEM pads (had 55k mi on the originals, they did well but were down to nothing up front) with Stoptech Z36, since the TRD tundra pads are not currently available.
I tow a travel trailer and sometimes my 80, both of which...
First trip of the season. We were a little nervous about the snow lines as the Sierras had quite the winter, and we were going to 7500'. It is an off the beaten path no reservations USFS site, and it looks like we were the first ones there but...
Meopta makes great optics. Have their 12x50 binos and a 20-70x spotting scope. Have traded optics with friends who have equivalent Zeiss or Swarovski glass and they all look the same.
12x50 binos on a tripod are pretty sweet, but you can still...
Nicely done. Makes me want to get in there and chop chop.
Let us know how the towing goes and if there's too much noise/drone with this setup. I've been hesitant due to towing.
Its done. Stainless is definitely harder to work with than mild steel or even aluminum. Pretty hard and brittle.
For those who have yet to cut the resonator, see the first photo. Do not cut it this close. It makes attaching a tip harder. I had...
Well the morning started off great but then it quickly got awkward. The feet of the winch didn't line up with the holes in the winch tray on the bumper, at least not front to back. The measurements were correct but the holes were about 1/4" too...
Joined the club a few months ago. I crushed the resonator tip in Moab last year, but it got the axe (technically sawzall) during a Dissent rear bumper and LRA install. There is absolutely zero difference in sound. A lot different than an 80...
That is good to know! Just looked at the specs and yes....05% duty cycle. I may add a 500A fuse or breaker to help slightly protect it when pulling at close to its max rating.
And use my snatch block more.
This was actually an easy install that took all of an afternoon. I kept the solenoid box on the winch. It fits just fine after some minimal trimming. The SDHQ mount does come with a relocation bracket, but I don't see any advantage to relocating...
SDHQ hidden winch install. Decided to try a Badlands Apex 1200. For under $600 with synthetic rope, I don't think you can go wrong. Install almost looks factory. Then third row removal. Still need to order the Heritage cargo mat. Also tweaked the...
Start with this stubborn drain plug (well maybe check all 3 fill plugs first). If it comes out, you should be able to handle the rest. If it doesn't budge and you don't feel comfortable messing with it..take it in.
Make sure the cool box is off. Even if you turn the HVAC off, if the cool box is on, the ac is still running and you will feel cold air coming out of the vents. Took me a year to figure out.
Logistically, 3 vehicles are not hard to handle. Plus as others mentioned, it's nice to have a spare if one is down...or if a weekend wrenching project unexpectedly goes another week.
8 speed transmission and updated front end (which especially looks better on the LC), plus interior updates and generally less miles. You might even find one with a CPO warranty. Also, with kids the powered opening tailgate is really nice.
Then...
I’m on 295/70/18 G003’s, front height sensors maxed out but nothing tweaked through techstream. Did quite a bit of work to the front fender liners but only got these tires in March so I’ve still been working through the clearance stuff.
Didn’t...
