Watching this is very impressive! Thanks for the extra time it takes to document it!
I feel like I'm not doing as good of a job as I could be on documenting things in this build....some of the threads are so much more detailed. My guys move quick and if I'm not on top of them to take pics, I miss a lot of what they're doing.

The one fact that you "drive home" with every post is the giant leap between a bunch of parts and a finished product.

This was a big pile of parts for sure. Nice to see it slowly dwindling down.....

I was putting together my usual Friday order from Partsouq today and realized that they have slowed way down from one a week to maybe now one a month for this truck. WAY nicer on the wallet with monthly orders.

All this mess......

Will fit behind this at some point :)

Got a lot squared away in the truck yesterday.....harness went in nicely. Couple small issues which we had to work around....the fuse box mounts very differently. Other than that....it all kind of fit. What a pleasant surprise.

The area circled in green was our problem area.....those tabs had to go to fit the later model harness. Ground down the spot welds, primed it, made some new tabs, welded them in and................the fuse box mounted up just like Toyota designed designed it on the later dash cabs.

While work was being done on the inside of the cab, I figured out where all the right front wires/harness went. Fit right in.

The 76 series was wired up for lockers, so there was a pigtail coming off that right side harness which would go to them....at least we think. This truck had ABS so there is some of that stuff going on in there too. We'll dive deeper in that once we get some of the parts we ordered last week....pick out what we need and what we don't.

Interestingly enough, this part of the harness has a fog light lead too. The 76 had those as well. We'll probably use it to trigger a relay for aux lighting....controlled with the OEM stalk on the wheel. There is a lot on this harness....wiper, alternator, right headlight/turn/city, AC low pressure switch, side marker.....fog light lead, ABS, locker(?) in there too. And the vacuum reservoir warning light(assuming there is a light). I think I saw a lead for maybe an air filter flow detector or something....some VSV stuff too.

Another interesting thing....the side marker/turn signal light was capped off. 76 must not have had side markers.

I see you are making the battery tray fit around the shock tower.

We tackled battery stuff last week...haven't quite finished the right side battery's rear mount. Should be done on Monday. Really cool setup for that tray. Took a LOT of work. Never was able to figure out which OEM battery tray fit back there. Figured it would be a good exercise in fabrication to have the youngster do it.

Yeah I got about two full days of battery fab for that location. First attempt was perfect except I didn’t have shocks installed so I made it to low. Then went back and raised it so now it’s a big hack job. It’s very secure in four spots but is ugly as hell. Probably will redo.

I couldn't get my fog lights to come on until I realized the lights have to be on first. Sounds like you already have that figured out.

Well we haven't got quite that far yet but since it's on the stalk, kind of makes sense. This has the new column in it....I believe I have a different stalk for it too....the wiper side if I recall. You can swap out with an intermittent wiper stalk to get intermittent function. I think. Seems all the Toyota stuff on columns is interchangeable. The lighting stalk is being replaced because it was scratched or something. Plus I like new stalks in builds....they feel new.

Ah....the joys of fab work BEFORE everything is installed. Been there. Too many times. I'm drilling it into the young kid's brain that things need to be in place and fully snugged down before anything is done and every time things are being fitted or adjusted.

I had him make a mock battery of our Odyssey to get a better reference for where we were going before we started. Trying to get him into the habit of taping things up too which is a total waste on this truck since the inner fenders are kind of beat up like most of these take off bodies.....but as we get into what we do on customer cars, he'll be going thru a lot of tape. I buy a LOT of tape for the shop.

Well to be clear, I have a fog light switch below my A/C console but it only switches the fog lights on if the headlights are on. I thought I had a bad switch until I figured that out.
