LANDTANK fan clutch for S/C 1FZ

The fan looks like one from 3fe - a '91-92. Attached are comparison.
The left fan is from fzj80 - from my '96.
I did run the 3fe fan with a blue fan clutch (no spacer) for a while until the orange version was available and went back to the fzj80 fan.

So even with the spacer and combination of other things the 3fe fan may be 'off' just enough.

Good eye!

I re examined his photo and that blade is indeed different. It could also be a 16361-65020 3VZ blade as those were sometimes used to get rid of the ringed blade.

That is very likely the issue.

I bet that's it - the forerunner fan.

@cruiserdan Is there a part number for the tensioner assembly? Curious to compare the two.

The factorty tensioner/idler assembly is PTR29-60974. There are a few of them left, how bad do you want to do it? The current published list price is $783.79. They are out there on the net for around 530 to 580 bucks.

16361-66020 is the 1FZ fan blade.

That's a very expensive part! Almost 20% of the entire kit when new.

They weren't that expensive back in the day. I'd have to pull out an old price disc but I think it was around 180 bucks. Still expensive but not brutal.

When the kits first came out they were around 3,500 bucks.

yes, the spare tensioner assembly I bought several years ago was somewhere around $150 - that was when Camelback still gave discounts for cruisers

Search function showing fan to fan clutch torque setting as ‘snug.’

Is that the consensus?
Or is there a torque setting?

That particular fastener does not have a stated torque value in the service manual (you do have a service manual, right? If not you should invest in one). In this case you refer to the standard bolt torque specifications chart in the introduction to the service manual. Studs with an un-marked tip are a 4T hardness and those with a grooved tip are a 6T hardness. 4T 6mm torque is 48 inch-pounds and 6T 6mm torque is 69 inch-pounds.

It's important to point out that the pics uploaded by @DSRTRDR have a spacer on the water pump pulley and doesn't reflect how a stock fan with a blue hub or black hub clutch mounted alone would work . Without the spacer they wouldn't work at all.

Nor does it have any tangible relation to using my modified orange fan clutch and the situation @JoeW is having.

Team Supercharger-
Resolved. The pulley itself was installed backwards. I think previous owner assumed the rounded end goes towards fan. Instead it points to tensioner. Once I corrected this the belt now sits where it needs to be. I also gained some additional space between belt and pulley.
Finally, I’ve located the exact tensioner (minus the pulley). I spoke to Magnuson engineering who directed me to the part they used. This will save everyone lots of money! $30 on ebay or amazon.
Continental Belt Tensioner 49216. Hope this helps those in need!
