How many of you take your tops off?

Haven't had a hard top on her for 5-6 years. Not a DD, but gets plenty of road and trail time in wet weather. Bikini top, hard half doors and a windjammer. If you don't go out in the wet weather in Washington, you don't go out much at all !!

I take the top off every chance I get. My hardtop will no longer fit so the soft top runs year round. I want to pick up a bikini top this year and leave my soft top off the entire summer and fall. Carpet is for posers anyway. Pull the drain plugs and enjoy a free shower from time to time.

Top???

Topless is way cool!! even with the windshield down is cooler:)
the 55 is for the winter top on until the saw gets it:D
yesits work getting it off but sooooooooooo much fun without it:grinpimp:

Prior to my soft top I always ran topless or just a bikini top in the summer. This is on my new rig. My old rig which was a DD always had the hard top removed in the summer. Always worth it.

I have a nearly perfect hardtop and it hasn't been on the Cruiser in 3 years. It's a total PIA-I almost wish I didn't have it. Unfortunately my 40 has become a garage queen and only comes out for wheeling trips in the summer. Since it never rains here between April and November, I keep the top stored at a friend's storage yard.

Same with the doors-they have not been on the Cruiser in years.

I am thinking about a soft top if I keep the beast.
You should have got a Kayline (STC) before they disappeared. I love mine.

Go'n Cruisa Comado whenever possible!
Course, Paradise does lend itself to such things...now if we could just get a few more trails opened up then...
I digress. Top of with a summer top is almost as good as topless!

DD is a 81 BJ42 nd i bought 'er this summer with a soft top on, got ragged on all summer and fall to put my spare hard top on...still runnen with just the beat up old soft top that dosnt close even when we had 2+ ft of snow. my FJ40 keeps the top on simply because i dont have anyplace to store the truck under cover. its going to be a trail rig...so the top will come off im sure...just not sure when yet. trucks are like women...can be finicky, tempermental and expensive....but always more fun topless:flipoff2:

personally taking the top off my FJ 43 is quite the task, so I took it off once and for all. Now I just run it with the soft top on winters and summers. I would like to mention that both the soft top as well as the hard top are not OEM, both custom made.

Had it original with hardtop in Mar'2007.
Removed since Dec'2007 and never regretted it although in WET RainForest region.
Just love the wind blowing into my face...

regards,
HelimanBD.

I like taking the top off and putting the soft top on in the summer. That way I have a choice. I usually put the hard top on in the winter but didn't do it this year as winter hasn't been that bad. Heck I drove in Jan 2nd without a top on at all. It's the best feeling and when I'm on the trail I do one more step and put the windshield down. You cannot beat it.

i took the tops off for years finally got tired of it so we have 2 cruisers with no tops for summer and 2or more with tops for winter. no more putting them on and off just get in and go althogh we now have more garage doors .good luck

The first thing I do with new cruisers is remove the top and put them back on when I sell them. The weather here in South Texas allows for that though. I do have a soft top for my current setup but it hasn't been put on yet and the bikini top is a must on sunny days or you will bake.... no worries about the rain,

It's a cruiser!!!

I live in Michigan but still manage to take the top off at least once every summer. It is a PITA but I have hooked up a system where I can get it off by myself in about 20-30minutes, it takes two to put back on though. We to get lots of sudden surprise rain so ideally I'll get a Paki soft top to put on from May to Sept and put my hard top on the rest of the year.

Anyone know of a simple cross-bar for sale that spans the 2 bottom hinge mounts that also has a license plate assembly mount?

Seems like an easy fabrication.

I know CCOT has that bolt-in tailgate thing - weird they didn't seem to add a 3-hole plate mount.
