HI-LIFT =DEATHTRAP
it could also save the day
so i have a story its 1997 im in a tux heading to my senior prom with my date in the passenger seat of my flatbed ford. 20 miles of gravel to get to my school. i hear the thump thump thump of a flat tire. perfect i think to myself. i slide it to the side of the road and get to work. i get it up tire off and my rig teeters to the side on the hi lift jack and into the ditch it goes. Sucky to say the least. so now i go ahead and take of my coat cause this is gonna be a bit dirty. i open the door let my lady know all is well and just set tight we will be on our way in a jiff. a chain, a block, and a deep set Osage hedge corner post, and my trusty hi lift i get the truck winched up on the road jacked back up and on our way. so ther you have it an example of the dangers of a hi lift and an example of saving the day. ive got another story of my granddad with a black and blue jaw for another day. Brother in law broken jaw = dangerous hi-lift usage
I need to reinvent this mouse trap and make it tactical and make a boat load of money. The Jeep crowd eats this crap up.

Good memory @Solace in Solitude! Here is mine - very simple actually, the second bolt I’m guessing is probably overkill (but a good backup) and requires welding. If you used thicker gauge 2”x2” steel tube you could probably do one bolt. Would be good to have a cable for backup though. The inner nut needs to be welded nonetheless. Locking bolt is readily available online. I just notched each side of the 2x2 to make the wider section.
