some really cool rust/paint removal pads I got for my grinder off of the net, these things kick ass, it cut through the crud in about 2 seconds, much easier than wire wheel. I got the idea from a post on mud somewhere where someone reccomended them. Could not find the 3m products in any local stores so had to special order them. You have to buy an adapter as well for your grinder to make them fit.

Also, a pic of the taurus fans I got from camcruiser13 here on the board. I was surprised as to how good of shape they were in. One looked practically new. Thanks Cam!

Hey Noa, just a quick note on those rust removal wheels, I've been getting them for years from sunchaser tools as well as the shrinking disc system. That thing rocks for getting rid of lumps and bumps. I don't know how his prices compare for the discs, but here's the site,

Hey Dom,

congrats on the welder, I think you will like it. For now, I am short on fundage so the next steps will be a lot of cleaning and some metal repair work on the body. I will post up more pics when I get some more done. Come by anytime with questions or for tips on welding. I am no expert but have gotten much better in the past year or so.

Hey Guppie-

Is that your FJ40 that is in Toyota 4x4 mag this month?

sure is, my 5 seconds of fame! :), sent those photos in like a year ago, funny stuff......., here's a more recent photo of it in Calico, near Barstow, had to work on it all last weekend, found many problems that needed addressing, I have been neglecting it in favor of work on the 55 for awhile, man these trucks take up your free time!

yea I thought so... I had to look twice to make sure... but I was like... hey I have seen that before... it belongs to a guy with a big black wig! :D

Really nice, Noah, can I bring mine down when you're done?

s*** Dre, you are killing me! :)

I was dreading this.

virtually NOTHING to report. I just got back from backpacking over in europe for 3 weeks, so work is balls to the wall now and I am poor as dirt. But it was worth it! Will update in a few weeks. Most of my time will be spent doing body work for the next few months, cuz it is cheap and mostly labor intensive! :)

I know this is a little off topic but.... what did you use for an engine wire harness with the 5.7 Vortec in the 40?

thanks Dre, all I need is your fab skills and I could be superman, :) , totally just kidding btw.

I used howell for my harness, I reccomend them highly, great customer service, etc. You can definetly do it by moding the stock vortec harness, I am just an ass with wiring.

Cam, does that bigwheel of yours have a v8 or what? :) and yes I am a slacker, wore my "i love naps" shirt today.
